Em seguida, dirija-se à Praça de Tiananmen, a maior praça pública deste tipo do mundo. Localizado no coração da cidade de Pequim, é o local de desfiles e manifestações maciças.Este foi o local quando, em 1949, de uma tribuna em Tiananmen (a Porta da Paz Celestial), o presidente Mao proclamou o estabelecimento da República Popular da China. Por razões de segurança, a Praça de Tiananmen é uma praça cercada cercada por redes de ferro baixas com quatro entradas principais - leste, oeste, sul e norte. A praça está agora aberta ao público até o pôr do sol, mas todos os turistas têm que passar por um controle de segurança antes de entrar na praça. Então pontos de verificação foram criados em todas as entradas que levam à praça.
Tenha um vislumbre do lado de fora do Memorial Hall do Presidente Mao, o Monumento aos Heróis do Povo, o magnífico Grande Salão do Povo, o Museu Nacional da China, o antigo Portão de Zhengyang e a Torre Arrow, bem como a Torre Tiananmen que leva a a conhecida Cidade Proibida.

Fantastic trip for the day. We chose this as our day 1 trip to get up and used to the time change after a long flight. Lucy was amazing as she kept our group together and taught us about the history of the forbidden city as well as recent discoveries. She had a good sense of humour as well which made the trip even more fun. I would recommend this trip if you wish to learn about the history of the forbidden city but to also stretch your legs and get moving for the day.

Thorough and excellent forbidden city tour, however we only drove past the Tianmen square and did not enter as expected, which was a little disappointing. We were told this is due to significant lines at the square to enter. We will have to book a trip to the square soon.
