This was such an incredible experience and well worth the money. My family and I were guided by Estela, and she taught us so much about Patagonian life and the history of the Estancia and more. Our steak sandwiches were so delicious and the views were just spectacular. I would gladly come back if I were ever in El Calafate. Remember to wear sunscreen! (Note: my family spoke Spanish)
Amazing adventure right from the start. We were picked up from our meeting spot and have a wonderful car ride all the way to the ranch where we were warmly welcomed by the staff. The vibe was very friendly and casual and they really were interested in engaging with us and making us feel at home. Our warm welcome was followed by a quick horse riding instruction that was very easy to understand and within 10minutes we were off on our ride. We had no previous horse riding experience but quickly got the hang of it and had a wonderful time. I can’t emphasize how much we enjoyed this trip and would do it again given the chance!
The place The people The animals The food Was a great day in general. Communication was good, pick up and drop off was smooth. Everything perfect
This was a fantastic trip to do - we felt really welcomed and cared for the entire time, and loved everything about it. The team there are so kind, friendly and accommodating of your skill level on the horses (which for us, was novice!), and the horses were so beautiful and gentle. The lunch …was …amazing! It really felt like you’d been invited into their family for the day - would absolutely recommend!
Lo pasamos genial en la cabalgata y comimos muy rico en el almuerzo. El lugar es hermoso y mágico la gente muy amable. Vimos un gatito bebé, cerdito bebé, un conejo, y muchos más animales tiernos. We had a lovely magical time on the horseback ride and the lunch was delicious and generous. The place is beautiful and magical and the hosts are very friendly. We saw a kitten, a piglet, a rabbit, and many other cute animals! Thank you!! Gracias!!
Esteban and his team were extremely welcoming and provided us with a great day. We were promptly collected from a local hotel in El Calafate and driven to the Estancia Río Mitre where we were welcomed by Esteban, who gave us a coffee and some samples of chorizo. He provided a history of his family and the ranch. The two guides who accompanied us on the horses were fantastic - super knowledgeable, friendly and very funny. They made sure that we were comfortable on the horses and provided tips on how best to ride them. We were taken for a long ride across the flood plain of the Río Mitre, taking in the wildlife and amazing weather. We stopped for lunch where the guides cooked steak sandwiches on an open fire. The whole experience was unforgettable and an amazing day, I couldn’t recommend it enough. Make sure that you bring enough cash to give the guides a tip at the end of the ride.
The tour was really great. Individual pick up from hotel in El Calafate. We drove about 45 min to the Estencia, got welcome coffee and had nice talk with owner. People are really very friendly . Then we were riding for almost 2 h . After that we got Asado lunch. It was really relaxing but we were only 2 of us as the season just started. We can really recommend it !
Best landscape I’ve ever seen! Esteban the owner is a great person, try to meet him if you go! Also the horses are really easygoing!
We had a private transfer who picked us up from our hostel in El Calafate to Rio Miter estancia. Even though we had a language barrier, Patrizio and Patrizia showed us flamingos, stopped at a landmark and slowed down to take some pictures along the way. They were friendly. Upon arrival at the estancia, we were offered tea/coffee. I wish someone would have walked us through the schedule or explained a little what life at the horse ranch is like, but this was not the case so I just made my own way outside to spend time with the roaming farm animals. Eventually, the horses were also rounded up, guided to their structure and some of them prepared with the saddles for the horse back riding. Have to say that this process took well over an hour but I am not used to this environment so it was truly lovely to watch and spend time over there. We then made our way on the horses to a nearby beach. The short ride took approx 1 hour. I would have liked the guide to talk to us a bit more, but this did not make or break the experience. Upon our return to the estancia, we were presented with steak, salad and drinks. Again, I would have liked someone to tell us what the plan was, whether I was vegetarian or not, but everyone seemed too occupied. Suddenly, our private transfer driver also re-appeared and said that it was time to head back. I really liked the estancia experience because there were no big tourist buses and it felt genuine, Patagonian, just the kind of thing that we were after. I guess this review is to serve as a heads up that you should approach or ask questions to the staff if you want to know anything otherwise you will not be spoken to.
Riding along the lake shore was amazing because of the beautiful views! I have very little experience on horseback but the horses were well behaved and there were no issues with the ride. The meal was very good. It was more than I could eat. Arriving was a little awkward. We got our of the car and we were given no instructions. We didn't know whether to go inside, down to the corral, or some place else. We chose to go inside and again it was a little awkward. We were again given no instructions and stood around. Then, the guide said, "Let's go". However, aside from the awkwardness we are very, very glad we went. The staff were very kind. I think some of the awkwardness was because of my language barriers.
