great tour, very detailed and not over the top. Great to see 3 distinct time periods of Greek history. The guides were fantastic, the driver was awesome.
This small-group day trip was a lot of fun and covered a great area of sites outside of Athens. We first stopped in Corinth for a brief view of the channel. We had an additional guide who was educated in Architecture and History who met us and led the stops in Mycenae and the Epidaurus. She was phenomenal! Both were wonderful sites, specifically given the number of archeological items that have come from Mycenae. Free time followed the guided portion of the tour. Additionally, stopping in the town of Nafplio, which is significant in Greek history, was quite fun. There was time for a very quick lunch after some highlights by our tour bus guide (different guide than the Archeological sites). Overall, the stop in Nafplio felt rushed as we didn’t really have time to walk the streets and check out the historical town. My recommendation to the tour comonany would be to expand this portion of the tour and reduce some of the free time at both Mycenae and Epidaurus. Overall, very fun experience. Enjoyed the smalll group size and the entire length of the day. Would highly recommend to its visitors who wish to break out of Athens proper to experience other locales.
Mycenae: Horrified at the treatment of stray animals!.. it was a hot day. One dog collapsed and died during our tour. There was absolutely NO DISHES OF WATER. Just euthanize the poor things. We cut the bottom of a water bottle off to make a small dish for a cat laying on a bench. She drank 3 of the little bowls of water while my husband held it. It ruined our experience, seeing these poor animal so mistreated. Who ever is in charge of that historic site needs to know how disgusting it is
We sincerely sympathize with the concerns expressed regarding the welfare of stray animals at the archaeological site of Mycenae. Animal welfare is an important issue, and we fully understand the emotions it may evoke. However, we believe it is important to clarify the purpose of Tripadvisor reviews. Reviews are intended to help travelers evaluate the quality of a tour or service provided by a business. This review does not assess any aspect of our tour, such as our transportation, itinerary, tour leader, driver, organization, or overall service. Instead, it focuses exclusively on a public issue that is entirely outside the scope of our business and our responsibilities. Despite repeatedly requesting that Tripadvisor remove this review on the grounds that it is unrelated to the services we provide, it continues to be displayed on our product page. We respectfully believe that reviews should help the travel community make informed decisions about the quality of travel experiences and the performance of tour operators—not be used to express concerns about broader social or public issues that fall under the responsibility of local or public authorities. Unfortunately, this review harms the reputation of our company despite referring to a matter over which we have absolutely no authority, responsibility, or ability to intervene. We hope future travelers will evaluate our tours based on the quality of the experience we actually provide rather than on circumstances beyond our control.
We had a great tour from Athens with Julia as our guide. The timing between all the stops was perfect for us, allowing us to see a good amount of sights. The other two guides that we had when we were in Epidaurus and Mycenae, Jenny and Patti, were terrific as well.
The tour leader Lilly and driver Nikos were such friendly people that it made all the difference and made this tour thoroughly enjoyable. It was a small group and therefore felt more personal. Lilly had some wonderful stories on the historical myths which she told with a lovely sense of humour. Everything was so well organised and run efficiently. I would definitely recommend this tour to all my friends.
It was a very interesting tour. The guide was very knowledgeable.
A very well-organized trip from start to finish. Our guide, Roi, was informative and engaging, providing valuable insights throughout the journey, while the local guides at each site added depth to the experience. It was a wonderful excursion outside Athens and one that I would highly recommend.
This tour is a good choice for people who are not particularly well-read in Greek history and want a brief overview of the sites and their historical significance. The day was packed with activities, and the time spent at each site was far too short for someone like me, who enjoys taking their time in museums and exploring historical locations in depth. I am not the average Greek tourist in that this was my third visit to mainland Greece, and I consider myself fairly well-read in Greek history. I also read about the sites before the tour, hoping to get more out of the experience. I would recommend this tour to people who want an easy, stress-free day with a friendly and accommodating guide while enjoying a concise introduction to Greek history. However, for history enthusiasts and those who enjoy delving deeply into historical sites, this trip may leave you wanting more.
Everything went well. Good guides. Lots of information. Only the Canal of Corinth was a bit disappointed.
We did the trip as a group of 6 from Athens, but the vehicle was able to accommodate more if necessary. Our driver and main guide Nick was fabulous. We were picked up at our hotel and not only did he do a great job of safely shuttling us to the tour site, but he had lots of great information to tell us about the region. He did a wonderful job answering any questions and making sure our excursion was enjoyable. At the sites of Epidaurus & Mycenae, we were met by local guides who took us through these ancient sites and gave us great insite to life there. Their passion and knowledge for these historical places brough our visits to a much higher level. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone visiting in the area. It really gives an amazing glimpse of an area rich in history & culture, past to the present.
