O Museu honra a memória dos 29 uruguaios que morreram no An de DE em 1972, quando seu avião caiu em seu caminho de Montevideo para Santiago do Chile. Esta exposição é também dedicada aos 16 colegas, que “voltaram à vida” depois de terem sofrido 72 dias infernais nas piores condições imagináveis. (veja filme e/ou livro: "Alive") A exposição inclui fotos, documentos, pertences pessoais e detritos de aviões, entre outros itens relevantes. Uma linha de tempo fornece um relato diário dos eventos que ocorreram no “Vale das Lágrimas”, durante esses 72 dias sem fim.

O museu está localizado em um edifício do século XIX, no centro histórico da cidade de Montevidéu, declarado patrimônio nacional. A exposição inclui fotos, documentos, objetos pessoais e detritos de avião, entre outros itens relevantes. Uma linha do tempo fornece um relato diário dos eventos que ocorreram no “Vale das Lágrimas”, bem como dos eventos importantes que ocorreram ao mesmo tempo em outras partes do mundo, durante aqueles que nunca terminam. dias. 400 metros quadrados, 40 painéis bilíngües, 30 gabinetes, várias telas e fragmentos originais mostram todos os fatos relevantes sobre essa história única de sobrevivência. Beautiful experience. I went to spend my birthday in Montevideo and chose this city mainly to go and see the Museum. It's very complete and exciting to be there.
The exhibition is impacting. You can feel the suffering, despair and the terrible cold that the survivors faced. But with their strength, unity, and courage they went in search of a miracle! I cried a lot reading the letters to the family, makes us reflect a lot, how fragile life is!
It is a museum that explains in great detail what the survivors and the deceased experienced in the tragedy of the Andes. The stories, the wreckage of the plane, the personal belongings... everything that's on site is really moving. Also everything dedicated to the Chilean muleteer who was the first to find them. Rarely when you go to a museum do you experience so many emotions.
Even if you are not familiar with this incredible story of the 1972 plane crash & survival in the Andes this museum is well worth a visit. I read 'Alive' by Piers Paul Read in my early twenties so I knew a lot of what transpired. The exhibits are excellent & there are so many personal items belonging to the crash survivors as well. In the basement there is a chamber that re-creates the temperatures the crash victims experienced during their enforced stay on the mountain. Well worth a visit
