There is a regular tour and a premium tour. Had we known that, we would have gladly booked the additional activities (feeding turtles, parrots, etc.).
Our guide was very knowledgeable and they had a good variety of animals.
All of the staff were so kind and accommodating!
This was my favorite thing we did in Cusco. It is evident that everyone who works here is passionate about caring for the animals and I learned so much. Cannot recommend this experience enough.
Terrific Experience, Great Guide, Worth the VIP Tour ticket price, as it also goes to wuch an important cause!
Benjamin was our English tour guide throughout the sanctuary and he was so lovely! So insightful and showed us all of the animals, and let us feed the alpacas!! The animals were so happy here, which was nice to see. So cheap as well! Loved it so much, and it’s cheap to get to! It was just under an hour!
Thank you so much for your kind review, Benjamin. We’re truly happy to hear you enjoyed your visit and found the English tour insightful. We also love that you got the chance to feed the alpacas and see the animals relaxed and well cared for. At Cochahuasi, we work every day to rescue and protect wildlife, and feedback like yours motivates our whole team. Thank you for recommending us and for supporting our mission. We hope to welcome you back again soon in Cusco!
These people take care of poor and sick animals that have been rescued from a terrible life. The visit can be quick and you are welcome to stay as long as you want. The people are kond and have a lot of knowledge. Please visit and donate to keep it alive
Thank you very much for your kind review. We’re glad you appreciated the care we provide to rescued animals and the knowledge shared by our team. Your visit and support help us continue this important work. —The Cochahuasi Animal Sanctuary Team
Benjamin gave us some good info on the animals that were rescued and brought to the sanctuary. We got to see up close and interact with the local wildlife that are native to Peru and the Andes, especially the famous Andean condors. This is a great visit if you want a short break from the many moderate level activities available in the Sacred Valley area.
Thank you for your kind review! We’re glad you enjoyed learning from Benjamin and meeting Peru’s native wildlife up close, especially the majestic Andean condors. We truly appreciate your visit and support for our rescue and conservation efforts. —The Cochahuasi Animal Sanctuary Team
I loved the visit to the shrine. They do a very important job of raising people’s awareness of animal recovery and care and possible release again if feasible. Thank you very much for the work you do in a country like Peru where animal welfare does not seem to be the priority of Peruvians at all. I recommend everyone visit this sanctuary and be clear about the difference between zoo and recovery center. We must take care of the land (Pachamama) and the animals that inhabit it. Special mention to the girl who is in charge of the box, who gave us the guided tour. I loved meeting you and seeing that you have a great heart and love for animals like us. You gave me hope after seeing how most Peruvians treat animals and how little respect they have for them. Thanks for doing what you do.
—The Cochahuasi Animal Sanctuary Team
Very disappointing animals are locked in small spaces, the premises are poorly maintained and dirty. It is not a sanctuary at all, but rather the continuity of the abuse that animals had suffered before.
—The Cochahuasi Animal Sanctuary Team
