Jose was well informed about El Yunque National Rainforest and very friendly to top it off. Looking at Mt. Britton Lookout Tower from below might feel daunting; a step at time will get you to the top of it. Great experience. Would recommend
this trip is not a causal walk. you should wear sturdy shoes for walking up hill about a mile. our guide Luis was excellent, pointing out local flowers, insects and history. Winding roads up to the hiking spot, beautiful waterfalls and a last stop for. a dip in the river. bring water and money for a mid trip snack.
My guide José Enrique was AMAZING! Everything went really smoothly and the experience was one of a kind. The hike was medium difficultly which is exactly what I wanted. Lots of time to ask questions. I felt a little rushed at the river, but I understand the yunque hike was the main experience.
Can’t say enough about our tour guide, Diana Garcia, and the tour she led us on. We have a 6 and 8 year old and this was the perfect tour, especially for first timers. Be sure to ask for Diana if you book!
Great experience and Luis was an excellent guide. That said, for an 8-hour day, we wished more time was spent on the trails—an extra hiking segment would’ve made it feel complete. The lunch stop wasn’t worth the time, calories, or money. Would still recommend, but just expect a relaxed pace.
We had a wonderful tour guide, Juan. He was a skillful driver of the van, gave us so much information about the history of San Juan and the rain forrest plus you could just tell that he was enjoying being our tour guide. I would recommend the tour.
Really nice and easy hike through El Younque rainforest. We were picked up at a hotel in San Juan then driven to the rainforest where we walked on a paved trail to the lookout tower where we were able to take in 360 views of the rainforest and see islands in the distance. It was a fairly easy walk, although steep, but our guide stopped frequently for our group. Afterwards we stopped at a gorgeous waterfall and swimming spot in the river.
Our trek through the rainforest was a wonderful experience. Jose is a very helpful and knowledgeable guide, very personable and very familiar with local flora and fauna. Conditions on the hike were made very manageable by permanent pathways, accessible to people of all ages and abilities.
Salomon was an excellent guide and she pointed out flora and faune--she had a good eye for animals on leaves! Hike was nice and the view from the tower was spectacular!
Our guide, Jose Henrique, was great. He gave us a solid background on the people and geology of PR. On the trail, he stopped to point out many interesting plants, snails, insects, and birds. Mt Briiton is a steep climb but the trail is semi paved, and you can take breaks. Our 2nd stop was as a swimming hole in a river with a rope swing. If you are not into hiking or swimming, or getting caught in the rain in a rainforest, this trip is not for you. But if you like adventure and you are in reasonable physical shape, do it! You will have a great time!
