We had a beautiful and chill day climbing the steps of El Penol and exploring Guatape. Carlos was a friendly and great guide who picked us up at our hotel and described the different areas of the city as we drove toward Guatape. He shared restaurant and night life recommendations as well. After El Penol, we walked around Guatape, shopped for leather goods (zapatos!), tried pandebono, and enjoyed a delicious lunch with some excellent people watching. It does take quite a bit of time to drive out and back, but we thought it was beautiful and worth it.
I had an outstanding experience with this tour from start to finish. Carlos, our guide, was fantastic — incredibly helpful, attentive, and always a few steps ahead of what we needed. The tour company also arranged my airport pickup, and both that transfer and the Guatapé/El Peñol tour were handled with excellent communication, quick responses, and a genuinely personalized touch. I would book with this company again without hesitation and highly recommend them to anyone visiting Medellín.
Our visit to El Penol & Guatape on November 1st, was incredible! Our guide, Andres, made my 40th birthday a memory I'll never forget. On this tour, we had the chance to climb to the top for surreal views, taste local fruit and walk around the colorful town of Guatape, and have lunch at a delicious local restaurant. Andres was very knowledgeable about the history of the area in context of the country, personable, and fun! In fact, he arranged many small surprises throughout our tour, after learning it was my birthday. If you get the chance while visiting Medellin, don't miss this tour!

The tour itself is amazing. The view from the top is breathtaking and Guatape is colorful and charming. Totally worth it! We wished tour guide would have been more informative throughout the tour and advised us about how much time we had. We wanted to spend more time in Guatape exploring but felt rushed.

Visiting El Peñol was one of the most impressive moments of my trip to Colombia. I didn’t climb the 700+ steps as it was going to be a challenge for me. The landscape of the Guatapé reservoir is simply spectacular, with its blue waters and small islands that look like they were taken from a postcard. Everything is well organized, there are stalls to buy water or snacks and beer, and you can take amazing photos from various points. I recommend going early to avoid heat and crowds. Undoubtedly, an experience not to be missed if you are in Antioquia. Highly recommended!

I had a fantastic private tour of El Peñol and Guatape with Carlos! Carlos knows all the ins and outs of the area and can cater the tour to what you like. We were able to have great local coffee, snacks and food. 10/10 would recommend going with Carlos. I would also recommend going early to beat the traffic!

Great experience! John, our tour guide, picked us up from our hotel in the morning and drove us to Guatape. We climbed the 700 steps to the top of La Piedra to stunning views. Wow! We then drove to the nearby town of Guatape which was quaint, colorful and photogenic. John took us to some good shopping areas for chocolate, coffee, emeralds and other souvenirs. The tour company and John were great and arranged a birthday surprise for one of our tour members at a local restaurant - thank you for making this a memorable and fantastic day for all of us!
