Our family of 4 (including 2 teens) had a wonderful private walking tour of Old Town. Zander was our guide, and he had a wealth of knowledge & history to share. We were in Edinburgh for less than 48 hours and we wanted to make the most of our time. I love the fact that Local Eyes was so accommodating as to work with our schedule to make that happen! Very enjoyable tour... we all learned so much about the history of the city and the significance of many of the buildings and places we passed- and some of the people who shaped the city and the country of Scotland. The walking tour provided context to make our time in Edinburgh much richer than exploring on our own. Zander was friendly & engaging with my teens... and with hubby & I. Also, Zander had done his homework... there were certain aspects and periods of history we were specifically interested in. And he took the time to do a little extra research before our meeting to accommodate our request. It was much appreciated. I am so glad we booked this private tour through Local Eyes... and I highly recommend it to others.
We had a fantastic day on our Old Town tour today. David W. , our guide, was knowledgeable and informative and one of the best guides we have had over many decades of travel. His breadth and depth of historical knowledge was outstanding. He answered each of our many questions without hesitation, and went at our pace without rushing us. Thank you for arranging such a wonderful guide to orient us on our first day in Edinburgh. It’s not easy to digest 800 years of European history in 3 hours, but David enabled us to do so. We felt we received a superb and thorough introduction to the Old Town with tips and suggestions on follow up activities. Well done! Thank you, David!
Outstanding introduction to Edinburgh! We had 2 teens with us and the entire family was engaged and learned so much from David. He was an excellent ambassador for the city and set the tone for our trip!
We had our tour of old Town and the castle with Gary and he was fantastic! The stories and history was fun to learn about. We had a great day and was glad to have Gary as our guide! Would highly recommend Local Eyes private tour over a big group any day!!
With our family we booked a tour at the Local Eyes Tours with Chris. He is very engaging and connected well with the whole group and even remembers all the names very quickly. The tour was nice and he adjusted to where he thought it would fit with us as a group and match our interests. Interesting stories and funny facts. We loved our tour of Old Town Edinburgh and the castle. Helen was adorable and gave us lots of factoids that you wouldn't read about. Like why the horse in the statue had pig ears. Or what the black scrape marks on the walls were from. She walked us all around Old Town, and then we ended up at the castle. She couldn't go into each building with us, but she told us which buildings were most important, because we had a time crunch. We also did the tour the first day we were in Edinburgh, and then had a better idea of what to do while we were there. Highly recommended!!
Chris took my Girlfriend and I for a walking tour of Edinburgh’s Old Town and it was wonderful. Chris is a fountain of knowledge and shares it in an engaging conversational manor whilst walking you through the streets of Edinburgh. An ideal start to your trip as Chris has lots of recommendations for places to eat and drink and things to do throughout your stay.
We choose the 3 hour walking tour of the Old City with Chris on our 2nd day in town. Chris met us at our apartment at the designated time and asked about our interests and if we had any difficulty walking. He completely customized the tour to meet our interest. The tour was very informative and casual, providing interesting highlights of the city. It was a great way for us to get acquainted with the city. Chris even recommended a few nice restaurants for lunch and dinner. Highly recommend.
