I love booking tours like this because we get to see a ton of new areas without pricing ourselves out from the job. We happily tipped 50€ for this tour with our friends (three of us total) and it was probably worth more. We saw so many quiet corners of Leiden, and learned so much, but the time still flew. Jamie was a great great guide. Holly handled all the emails and info ahead of time and followed up with us afterwards with more recommendations. It was just a great experience for us.
Enjoyable way to learn about Leiden. Our guide was very informative and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!’
Thank you so much for spending some of your vacation with us!
Jamie is very friendly. He is knowledgeable about the history of Leiden. We enjoyed our tour very much. Jamie also gave us great recommendations for dinner at the end of our tour.
He's the best - thank you for touring with us!
We did this tour on our first day in the city and it was the perfect introduction to Leiden. Our guide knew the city inside and out and you could genuinely tell how much he loves it and his energy made it feel way more like exploring with a local than being on a tour. We ended up following basically all of his recommendations for food, drinks, and places to visit, and every single one landed. Honestly, the trip would not have been the same without it. We left actually understanding the city rather than just having walked through it. Highly recommend if you want a fun, genuine way to experience Leiden!
Thank you so much for spending some of your vacation time with us!
Our guide Jamie skillfully led us through +400 years of Leiden history on an informative and compact walking tour. He took us to all the important locations of interest and gave us concise information on a wide range of historical events and people that shaped Leiden. Jamie also took us to the very best canal spots and happily took photos for us. Jamie's knowledge of Leiden history was outstanding, the 1.5 hours flew by fast. We finished the tour with a good understanding of this beautiful city's history! Thanks for a great tour, Jamie!
He's the best :-) Thank you for touring with us!
We had booked on a Group Walking Tour of Leiden but good luck was on our side; the other couple who had booked did not turn up so we ended up with a private tour with Jamie (who's originally from Puerto Rico but has moved to Leiden with his young family). The one and a half hours flew by with a very informative and entertaining walk and description of Leiden's past and current social scene; all extremely interesting. Leiden is an easy town love, dominated by beautiful architecture, interesting history and a complete sensory overload - bikes, coffee shops and people going about having fun in the sunshine. Jamie is full of joy interesting facts and dates and his love for the city is plain to see. We really enjoyed the tour and recommend it to anyone new to Leiden.
This was the first time visiting Leiden and what a beautiful city it is. We never would have had the opportunity to experience the everyday life that people who live there see everyday. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and patient with our constantly asking questions about everything around us. The 90 minutes flew by and the information we received never made it into any history books we ever read. We highly recommend this tour for singles, couples and/or families. Bush Family
I loved this Leiden walking tour. In just 90 minutes, I saw things I never would’ve found on my own—the buzzing Saturday farmer’s market, the historic university, and even a tiny aviary tucked away in a quiet park along a small canal. Hearing the story of the Pilgrims right where they actually lived before sailing to the New World was a cool moment. Starting at Molen De Valk and ending at De Burcht made the whole thing feel like a mini adventure through the city’s Golden Age. Super fun, super informative, and absolutely worth doing.
We had such a great time on this tour! We got to see a lot of hidden gems around Leiden and hear so many interesting stories about the city, its history, culture, and everyday life. Jamie was an amazing guide - super passionate, friendly, and easy to listen to. You can really tell he loves what he does and knows the city inside out. The whole tour felt very natural and authentic. The tour was also very kids and dogs friendly, which made it even better for us. Both the route and the pace were well adjusted, so the whole experience felt relaxed and enjoyable from start to finish. We Definitely recommend!
Holly is an incredible guide - warm, funny, and genuinely passionate about Leiden's history. She weaves together stories of the Pilgrims, the Golden Age painters, and local life in a way that never feels like a rehearsed script, more like exploring the city with a brilliant friend who happens to know everything. The route hits really cool spots - the windmill, the Pieterskwartier, the Burcht, hidden courtyards we'd never have found on our own - and the time just fly by. Holly clearly loves what she does, and that energy is contagious (in the best way possible:)
