Itinerário
Começaremos no colo de Trajano e passaremos pela Piazza Venezia antes de subir os degraus levemente inclinados até a Piazza del Campidoglio para ver o maravilhoso design da praça que foi toda imaginada pelo grande Michelangelo e agora abriga os famosos Museus Capitolinos.
A partir daqui, caminhamos para o Teatro de Marcelo, muitas vezes chamado de brincadeira como o pequeno Coliseu. Embora arquitetonicamente semelhante ao Coliseu, o Teatro de Marcelo é um pouco mais antigo, datado de 12 aC e não abrigava nenhum dos esportes sangrentos, e agora abriga alguns moradores sortudos que moram nos apartamentos acima do teatro .
Em nossa caminhada, veremos os muitos restaurantes do bairro e pararemos para provar o tradicional gelato Kosher. Em seguida, faremos uma curta caminhada até a magnífica Fontana delle Tartarughe (Fonte da Tartaruga), uma verdadeira obra-prima do final do Renascimento italiano, onde você descobrirá como foi construída em apenas um dia.
Construído em 1555, este é o gueto judeu mais antigo. O papa revogou todos os direitos concedidos aos judeus romanos e os impediu de todos os tipos de comércio e a capacidade de possuir imóveis. Apesar disso, a comunidade judaica prosperou dentro do comércio desenvolvendo negócios, uma culinária única e maravilhosa dentro de seus muros e até mesmo seu próprio dialeto italiano. A Grande Sinagoga, ainda a terceira maior da Europa, funciona hoje como um lugar de oração e um ponto de referência cultural vital para toda a comunidade judaica de Roma.
A partir daqui é uma curta caminhada até o Porticus Octaviae, uma enorme estrutura construída pelo imperador Augusto em homenagem à sua irmã Octavia. Do século 15 ao início do século 20, foi o lar do mercado de peixe de Roma. É a partir daqui que entramos no próprio Gueto.
Concluindo na Ilha Tiberina, onde passado e presente se fundem perfeitamente, a ilha foi usada pelos antigos romanos como um hospital com o rio ajudando-os como uma barreira natural ajudando a impedir a propagação de doenças, e um dos melhores hospitais de Roma ainda pode ser encontrado naquele site hoje. Dando uma bela vista do rio, a ilha está convenientemente localizada entre o Gueto e o bairro local de Trastevere e está bem conectada para voltar a qualquer parte da cidade.

I was very disappointed this tour was canceled with 20 minutes notice. As this was our only day in Rome left we were not able to reschedule.

As soon as it became clear that the tour could not operate, we immediately began searching for a replacement guide. Despite making every effort and contacting available guides, we were unfortunately unable to find someone qualified and available at such short notice. We fully understand that this situation affected your plans, and we are truly sorry for the inconvenience caused. Our family had a wonderful experience on this tour - we learned a ton but Jamie kept it dynamic, humorous, and didn’t get too bogged down in the weeds. He made great use of our time. It was only us so appreciated the personal experience and ability to ask our questions, and he accommodated the 4 year old in our crew needing to stop a few times. Loved the emphasis on most Romans supporting their Jewish neighbors throughout history. It was heavy at points but also uplifting and he did a great job balancing those themes. Also the gelato was incredible. Highly recommend!

This tour started with a brief history of Rome/Italy. It was a great way get a better understanding of the beginning of the Jewish Ghetto. Our tour guide, Paul, was excellent! He's very knowledgeable and lead the tour at a nice pace.
