Great day activity, two very different wineries but lovely wine in both. Finished off with a nice lunch (with more wine) in Linetes. Excellently guided by Rodrigo, a very entertaining character:)
Rod was amazing!! He took us to two fantastic wineries, Fonseca and Lobo. Fonseca was gorgeous and Lobo was DELISH! I’d recommend this tour to anyone. It’s the perfect half day.
This was a private tour that met all expectations. Two unique and different wineries plus a tasting at a spot in one of the rows that gave a great variety. John very knowledgeable and hospitable. The snack plate at the 2nd winery was enough to satisfy with local meats and cheeses plus great wines. If you are looking for some time outside of Lisbon this is a great day with very personal attention. Appreciated all John’s efforts, he was a great guide! Wines were lovely!
We had a great time on this tour. Ricardo was guide and he was absolutely fabulous! He took extra time to make everyone in our party understood what he was saying. We went to two wineries, one very large and one small. We enjoyed both, but Assis Lobo was the best. It was very nice to have a small intimate tasting with the owners of the winery. We then had a fantastic lunch at a local restaurant. The seafood was fantastic. We throughly enjoyed every moment of this tour. I would highly recommend it.
We traveled with 4 adults on this private tour. The car was way too small for the 4 of us plus driver and uncomfortable. We expected a van. The first winery was beautiful but the wine tasting experience was very poor. Not much information shared and two pours which was sub par. I asked to try a white wine but was told no, even and I offered to pay for it. Second winery was disappointment as far as the experience since it was in a small tasting room with little chairs. I wish our tour guide would let the owner talk more about the wines and her business. The wine was good. We have done many wine tours which cost a lot less and were so much better. We definitely did not get what we paid for. Expected so much more than a crammed car ride and sitting in a small room sampling wine. Also the tour said including cheese and we had no cheese.
Hello again, dear Tamara Seminaris, Thank you for your feedback, but please let me correct a few things: 1) Car being too small: The vehicle in question is a 7-seater MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle). For European standards it is an adequate vehicle for transporting 4 people and the guide/driver. There where 2 more seats available/free. As I explained to you before, if you needed more space for the 4 of you, you could have provided that information before hand, and we would have arranged all accordingly (as so many of our travellers did, and do, throughout the years). We have several sized vehicles, for different group sizes. No problem at all. Obviously, we are not able to guess that some travellers might be “oversized” for European standards. 2) In all the wineries we visit, travellers can taste and buy all the wines they want, paying obviously that extra, directly to the wineries. As you can imagine, the wineries appreciate that a lot, and we do not hinder that. So, the guide definitely did not say no. 3) “Including cheese” Well, we gave you the option to choose between: A) Visit 3 wineries, enjoying 10 wine tastings in total, with a light cheese, chorizo, and bread plate at the last stop B) Visit 2 wineries, with 7 wine tastings in total, followed by a full lunch (including starters, main course, fish or meat, dessert, and wine) at a local family-owned restaurant in one of the villages. You opted for option 2, so yes, there was no cheese. 4) “second winery all to small”, yes, it is the smallest of the region. That is to show you the contrast from the big wineries to the smallest. This is not supposed to be a “charming location wine tour”, we never promise that. It is a wine tour to get to know the region and their wines. Also focused on the production and the people. Not a “fancy” tour and with no substance. Sorry that the tour was not as you expected, as we probably failed to explain our concept. But if travellers read the description, it’s exactly what we provide on the tour. Simple, local people, traditional wine, and food tour. Not a “commercial fantasy location” wine tour. Sorry for that… 😉
Excellent day trip to Setubal. We did 2 wine tastings and lunch. First stop at JMF winery was very informative with 2 excellent wines. Second stop included 5 tastings, all excellent. Lunch was superb at A Linete, you should go there even if not on a tour. Rodrigo was extremely knowledgable and a capable guide. Great day!
It was a great day; we saw a lot, although not about the production, but about the storage and handling of wine. Of course, with appropriate tastings. Joao is a fantastic guide; he knows the background and explains everything clearly. Just a very nice day in Portugal.
We had a tasty day with Rod visiting 3 wineries in the Setubal area. He was very knowledgeable about all the wines we sampled. We visited a large winery, a small family winery and a large wine store that sold all the wines from the area. The weather was sunny and most wines were very good.
Our time with Rodrigo was excellent and we’d take another tour with him. He was friendly, knowledgeable of the areas we visited, has a strong knowledge of wine and wine making and was quite the historian. We visited 2 lovely family-owned wineries and had a great time learning about the families. Rodrigo took us to a local family-owned restaurant where the food was delicious. We talked an d enjoyed Rodrigo’s company the entire time.
One of our favorite parts of our trip! This is truly private. My husband and I were picked up by Ricardo and driven to the wine region, he talked about Lisbon and the wineries on the way. He showed us around the small town and we visited an old larger winery. The tour was very interesting. Beatrice did an amazing job. Then we went to small winery where we tasted 6 wines and met owner Anna. She was very kind and sweet. We had great snacks here. We chose to visit the motherhouse instead of lunch and bought more cheese here. We tasted 5 more wines and we have pictures of all so we can have some shipped home later.
