We are so so happy we booked this day trip to Tomar! It is a hidden gem when it comes to places to see in Portugal. It feels like an untouched piece of history that makes you step back in time. Nemanja was an amazing guide. Great communication, he confirmed with us the day for the tour and had clear instructions for our day ahead. Planned very well to avoid peak traffic times, and was so accommodating throughout our day. He taught us a lot about the history of Portugal and places we were visiting, which made the drive fly by! We first visited Tomar and the Convento de Cristo, Templar castle. Absolutely stunning architecture and stonework. We had a local historian guide (Monica) who really enriched our visit by explaining the history, symbolism and details to us; which we definitely would have missed without her. If you are in Tomar, you can find her at Enchanting Histories. Next, we visited Batalha and the monastery there. I can't describe how beautiful this was. Seeing it just took our breath away. From the stained glass windows, to the architecture and high ceilings... It is just a marvel what was built so long ago. Learning about the great battle as well and how this monastery came to be added to its significance. Both Nemanja and Monica were very gracious with their time when guiding us, and were patient and took photos for us as well. Overall, we loved our day trip so much. It was about 7hrs total and super special. Being a private tour, we felt that it was more personable and customized. If we had to choose, we would probably do this instead of Sintra (luckily we had time to do both!) Thank you Nemanja for this unforgettable day!
A fascinating and very well-structured tour through Portugal’s Templar history, me as someone who is into a medieval history really enjoyed it. Both Batalha and Tomar is very interesting, and the pace allowed me to actually enjoy the sites instead of rushing through them. Nemanja was knowledgeable and engaging. Highly recommended for anyone interested in medieval history and the Knights Templar.
My friend and I booked this tour and it turned out to be the best part of our travel. Batalha is really beautiful, but The Convent of Christ in Tomar completely stole the show. The architecture and the whole atmosphere there are just breathtaking; it feels like stepping right into history. Everything went according to plan, and the guide Nemanja was super friendly and told us some great stories. A great experience overall, totally worth it! ❤️🇵🇹
If you want to see the real Portugal outside of Lisbon, this tour is a total hit. Batalha and Tomar offer an incredible trip back in time. Everything was perfectly organized, the transport was comfortable, and the stories our guide shared with us made the day unforgettable. Highly recommended!
Had a really good time on this tour. The views were amazing and the whole day was super chill, not rushed at all. Our guide was friendly and easy to talk to which made it even better. Definitely worth doing if you’re in Portugal.☺️☺️
Really enjoyed this tour! The whole experience felt relaxed and well planned, and the guide made it even better with good energy and interesting stories. We visited some amazing spots and never felt rushed. Definitely one of the highlights of my trip to Portugal.
Amazing tour! If you want to experience Portugal beyond the typical tourist routes, this tour is something special. “The Knights Templars” through Tomar and Batalha truly feels like traveling through the history of Portugal. Tomar completely surprised me. The stories about the Knights Templar, Gualdim Pais, and the origins of Portugal were told in such an immersive way that it felt more like watching a movie than taking a regular tour. The Convent of Christ is easily one of the most impressive places I’ve visited in Europe. Batalha was probably the highlight for me. The monastery looks unreal in person, and hearing the story of the Battle of Aljubarrota and Portugal’s fight for independence gave the place an entirely different meaning. Everything was private, relaxed, and very well organized. Comfortable transportation, local insights you won’t find online, and a guide who genuinely knows both the history and the soul of Portugal. Highly recommended for anyone looking for more than just a standard sightseeing tour.🐊
