A Praia de Elafonissi com a sua famosa Areia de Coral Rosa é considerada uma das praias mais famosas do mundo, de acordo com os mais famosos guias de viagem. Elafonissi “quebra-se” em duas partes pela água dando a impressão de ser uma ilha separada. Elafonissi é uma área protegida “Natura 2000”. A ilha está cheia de dunas com nenúfares e zimbros (como cedros). As ameaçadas tartarugas Caretta-Caretta e vários animais raros nidificam na ilha e é estritamente proibido retirar quaisquer plantas e animais da área. Praias exóticas de areia branca e águas azul-turquesa, que lembram o Caribe, se formam em ambos os lados da península. A areia é rosada em muitos lugares, tomando a cor de milhares de conchas quebradas. Perto do ponto de “quebra” da península, a água não ultrapassa 1m, criando uma pequena lagoa, ideal para crianças. O lado leste da praia, em frente à lagoa, é bem organizado e tem mais gente.
A aldeia de Elos Chestnut é uma aldeia famosa entre os habitantes locais, conhecida pela sua incrível beleza natural com a sua incrível floresta de castanheiros, bem como pelas suas incríveis tabernas tradicionais que proporcionam uma experiência culinária única nos caminhos da nutrição cretense.

I would not recommend this trip if you are elderly or have any disabilities as no one mentioned the coach drops you a good 20 minute downhill walk to Elefonisi beach on uneven ground with rocks and no shade. Once you get to the beach you think it will be worth it as you will be able to hire a sunbed and relax for the 4 hours. WRONG. the sunbeds were already taken and absolutely no shade anywhere. We got there at 1100 - 1500 so we could only sit on the wet sand or as we did after a dip in the sea, walk back up to the car park after several breaks on route as it was 32c and no shade or breeze. Dont get me wrong but the beach is beautiful and yes we could see pink at the waters edge. The main issue for us being in late 60s is the walk up to the car park. It took us 40 minutes. We were both exhausted and waited in a cafe for a further 3 hours before going off to a village for lunch at 3.30pm. It is a stunning place but there must have been at least 4000 people there so certainly would not say it was relaxing. Nowhere did it say it was disabled friendly. So please think twice or go or a boat specially designed for elderly or disabled guests.
They picked us up in an air conditioned bus. Driver was good with all the winding roads up and down the mountain. Bus was full. Gave us enough time at the beach (4 hrs) & the 2 stops before and after.
If you don't want to drive yourself and you're not a family of four for which a private tour might make more sense, this tour offers about the only option to get to Elafonissi beach. Yes the beach is crowded, yes you may have to get through a waist deep water during high tide to cross over to the island, but you keep walking until you will be by yourself. Beware if you are staying in the old town you're the first to be picked up and the last to be dropped off, which takes about an hour each. As I said, it's worth it. The transfer between the minibus and the big bus was smooth and the big bus driver Yannis was very experienced, and our guide Anastasia was so nice, sweet, smart, and informative! Thank you 😊
The beach was fantastic! The stop in Elos was very disappointing. Could have done without and got back earlier. It would have been better to stay longer at wine and honey tasting and coffee shop on way out!
pick up was on-time, good start! Tour guide, linda, was excellent throughout, spoke excellent english. I would recommend using this company and Elafonissi is a must visit.
Beautiful trip ! The beach is such a unique experience! The water is crystal clear and the area is very clean. There is a shower, cafe, supermarkets and amenities close by. Glad to have travelled with Fantasy Travel, they were available on the phone for last minute queries at 11pm the night before and 6am on the day of the trip. So really grateful. Length of stay was just the right amount of time. The journey was smooth with no issues, the tour guide was helpful, informative and friendly. Would highly recommend this trip and this company :)
Very beautiful day, tour through the gorges, excellent driver, impressive beach, and dreamlike landscapes.... Note: at the breakfast stop, there is a steep staircase to climb.... And upon arrival, a long walk from the bus stop to the beach.
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and took us to some really cool places. She gave us a lot of information and a lot of time to just enjoy the scenery. The bus driver was very safe and really made his way through some tough driving around mountains. It was a really enjoyable day and they picked us up and dropped us off on time.
Enjoyed coach journey very comfortable bus and spectacular views. Coffee breakfast stop was unnecessary as to early in the day as we had only just stopped picking up passengers and we were advised to buy snacks for the beach here as there wasn’t anything available at Ellafonissi beach. At the beach there were three well stopped mini markets selling food, drink and beach essentials two of which had cafes, a cafe/restaurant and two beach bars. The shallow lagoon which you needed to cross to the island involved wading across waist deep water not knee/midthigh depth as advised. We only found one area of pink sand nothing like the photos seen which was disappointing but appreciate that this is outwith anyone’s control as sand sifts with the weather. Enjoyed stop in the interesting village of Elos, the chestnut village. It had a church, old mill, mill laid as well as spectacular views. I feel most of the passengers missed out on this as they only went to the taverna. A nice day out but would I recommend the trip probably not.
Very pretty, water was so so clear. My advice is get there early as there were way too many people there for my liking by the time we left mid afternoon.
