Unforgettable trip through Myanmar Yangon, Bagan and Inle Lake, ..... with an excellent travel agency As a “frequent traveler, with a focus on Asia”, this trip to Myanmar can only highly recommend. Contrary to my usual habit of not spreading top places, I'll make an exception here. Despite the warnings from the Federal Foreign Office, we have again carried out a trip to Myanmar after much consideration. This was our third trip, after 1992, 2011 and now in January 2025. We had chosen the company “Asia Tour Myanmar” and we were more than satisfied. All the journeys, from airport pickup to hotel, organising excursions and domestic trips were unprecedented, all worked 100%. Our journey began in Yangon, the capital of Myanmar. The city is very lively and has a particularly beautiful region such as the port, the market the vibrant business district of small traders. Visiting the famous Shwedagon Pagoda was a truly magical experience again. The pagoda is reminiscent of the temple complexes in Bangkok, which are now completely overrun by tourists, not the Shwedaon Pagoda. Here you can enjoy the atmosphere. From Yangon we continued to Bagan, one of the most impressive temple complexes in the world, some temples are over 2000 years old. Especially recommended is a balloon flight in the evening over the pagodas, which was an indescribable experience. The tour I did this time because the price was only 120 €. In 2011, the price was still 250 €, which had gone a little way beyond my budget. Our hotel was the Aureum Palace , is highly recommended too. From Bagan I continued my journey with a flight to Inle Lake. The picturesque lake with the floating villages also offered a special atmosphere. The trip to the Indein Pagoda Complex was once again unique and without mass tourism. The country and organization of Asia Tour Myanmar was outstanding. The The travel agency I was traveling with provided excellent service, and the people I met along the way were consistently friendly and helpful. There were no restrictions for tourists, which made the experience even more authentic and enjoyable. I have not detected the safety warning and travel restrictions issued by the Foreign Office about the places we have booked. In few places is still no teardown possible for tourists, but that's not where I wanted to go. This flaw and initial queasy feeling disappears very quickly with the kindness of the people, the unique culture and landscapes. Rounding it off are the low travel costs (about 40-50% of a Thailand holiday) Wolfgang and Sabine from Munich
This trip was amazing and just perfect! We met with so many lovely people and had a chance to get a good view on how people live just outside Yangon. The guides were incredible- kind and patient with a great sense of humour. Highly recommended!
Thank you indeed for your excellent review, Thet !
I think I was one of the first tourist joining this tour! But it was really worth every single $. After a short drive we came to a small village where the bike-men where waiting for us. They had very prober bikes (mine was a Cannondale!). The owner of the bike-company is a very professional biker and explained about the tour and safety. Our first stop was for coffee and breakfast at a local teahouse. Then we cycled through rural areas with plenty of stops and lot's of local 'action'. People were all very friendly and inviting. Lunch was arranged enroute at a local restaurant where the group was allowed to help! So much fun!! Don't expect temples and touristy stuff but enjoy the local life and the friendlyness of Myanmar, just less then an hour drive from Yangon. Loved it!
Exactly Berry, this tour is expecially for those who want to avoid touristy and temples. We want to express our sincere thanks to you for sharing experiences. Hope to see you again soon.
