If you had 5 hours in the morning in Budapest...

Having only a full day in Budapest, this was a great way to see the city, eat what and where the locals eat, quiz our knowledgeable guide about the history and culture of Hungary. Not only was the food good, but the stories behind them were so interesting. Cristine, our guide, also shared other places of interest, restaurants and things to do on our own. The highlight was the wine tasting and cheese paring at Tasting Table. Well worth our time and money. Thank you Taste Hungary for offering such a good program.

Great Hungarian food and wine during a guided easy walk in Budapest

Our wonderful and knowledgeable guide, Kristina, led us to her favorite places to sample wonderful Hungarian cuisine and wines. An easy paced walk through Budapest with multiple stops over the course of 5 hours will fill your day and satisfy your appetite. Witness beautiful architecture along the way. Come hungry

A had a 5 hour tour of Budapest starting in central market, using public transport to explore different parts of the city and eating heaps of delicious food. The guide was personable and gave us a good insight into Budapest. Really recommended!

Cultural treat

A wonderful blend of a historical and cultural tour and a taste of a wide variety of Hungarian foods. They took us away from the crowded tourist areas to small shops and markets with authentic, hand made offerings. Our guide Ester was a delight and so informative. Tour information was well communicated and the stops were all very organized and efficient. Although we covered a lot of ground, the pace was reasonable with plenty of options to sit at the various stops. Highly recommend.

Fabulous Tour with Guide Aniko

The Budapest Culinary & Wine Walk from Taste Hungary was fabulous. We had a great time and learned a lot about the history and food of Budapest. Our guide, Aniko, was excellent, very friendly and knowledgeable. The best part was the variety of places she took us and the different foods we tried, combined with the stories our guide shared.

Eat like a local Hungarian!

What a fun tour! Krisztina, our guide, was such a blast. She has lived in Budapest for over 20 years and knows all the good spots and what makes Hungarian food unique and tasty. How do I know? Because our cousin who has lived in Budapest her entire life was on the tour with us and could validate! Krisztina steered us away from touristy spots. The wine tasting at the end the Taste Hungary wine cellar was delightful and we learned so much! I’d happily take more tours thru TH and would recommend this specific tour to anyone who is interested in local cuisine, appreciates non-touristy spots, likes a good walk, and is unafraid to try new things.

So Much More Than I Expected

Just finished 5 hours of a historic, cultural and food experience that was absolutely amazing. After over 500 reviews of hotels and restaurants, I am often stingy in my praise, but not in this case. Christina was like a friend you visit in a strange city and part from, wanting to return as soon as possible. She was warm, friendly, open and welcoming. Best of all, her food knowledge was conveyed in the manner of a great story teller, always weaving a narrative rather than simply repeating a list of facts. She engaged us in a manner that invited questions and replied with a great sense of humour (no matter how silly the question in my case. The only criticism I might have is that the sheer volume and variety of food consumed may exceed the capacity of those of us with little will power. This was not just good value for money, it was a bargain. I highly recommend the tour and Christina in particular.

Very over priced tour with a company that has extremely predatory billing policies

They make you pay in advance for the tour. It was $168.50 per person. To put this in perspective, this is the same as I am paying for a full tasting menu, at the chef’s table, at a Michelin star restaurant in Budapest. This was certainly not Michelin quality food; it was procured from stalls at food markets and small “mom and pop” restaurants. We certainly didn’t go to any hidden gems. The tour itself was interesting and gives a good overview of Budapest neighborhoods. I liked the tour guide. She was knowledgeable and interesting, although towards the end it seemed like she just wanted to wrap it up. Now here comes the worst part … I initially booked this for three people: my cousin and aunt (whom I was supposed to travel with) and myself. I paid in advance and my card was charged over $500. A week and a half before the tour, my cousin had an aneurism while travelling in Albania. Doctors told her she could not leave Tirana for two months as there is still blood on her brain and she has great difficulty walking. I emailed the tour company five days in advance and called multiple times to try and get a refund, at least for my cousin and her mom. They were 0% unsympathetic. Refused to refund my money. I ended up going on the tour alone. I would have thought that if I had paid three times the price I could at least get an extra glass of wine in the tasting or other perks. She bought me two additional chocolates but that was it. The whole experience left a very bad taste in my mouth.

Must Do Tour

Great tour. We started out and the Budapest market. Got to try hungarian specialties including the pickel vegetables. We took the subway and headed to another neighborhood had Hungarian soup, pastries, wine and cheese tasting. But what made this tour so enjoyable and educational was our tour guide,Christina. She brought to life the history and people of Hungry, their struggles, their lives after the war and life under communism. Must do tour.
