Cool experience to visit an island. I loved sailing the catamaran. Food was delicious as well. The downsides are: 1. I am not sure why do you need the guide there as basically there were enough staff to give you all the direction. Yes, guide helped us a bit to get in front of the line for food as we had a child. 2. Catamaran didn't have the sails open (as pictures implies) 3. When returning with a 'speed' boat they were collecting tips for the ride (I don't understand why, as I never tip plane pilot, bus driver, and I payed for the experience that includes these rides..) 4. You can get the same experience from all the vendors. So just book the cheapest one as there is no small group thing there..
Greetings, thank you for your review. If you read our suggestions, you'll see that tips are not mandatory; it's clearly stated there. Regarding the sailing catamaran, it's used depending on weather conditions, but all our catamarans are sail-powered. Sometimes they aren't used to get there faster, since using only the sails would take two hours and 45 minutes. That's why we use both the sails and the motor to reach the island more quickly. And as for tips, they are not mandatory. You can verify this in the information. And regarding small groups, we remind you that the island is a public beach where many companies go to the same place.
A lot of time is wasted on boarding and returning; moreover, the beach where we were taken was full of rocks, making it impossible to walk without hurting yourself. The experience of being at the beach lasts very little.
We bad experience this tour company the bus driver drop us off along the highway no pedestrian & let us walk across the highway which is he knows is dangerous for there guess safety YOU think your guys taking care your guests NOT and you think I can recommend this tour for my family and friends He’ll NO
Good evening, Mr. Danny. Thank you very much for your review. As we explained to you yesterday, the driver dropped you off on the side of the street because your car was located on the opposite side. He stopped on the pedestrian side to allow you to cross via the crosswalk, as the nearest U-turn at that corner is located a kilometer away, and the vehicle was traveling in the opposite direction. The spot where the driver dropped you off is not a dangerous area, as the designated crosswalk for pedestrians is located right there. Had it been a dangerous location, rest assured that we would not have dropped you off there; you were dropped off directly across from where your vehicle was parked—you simply needed to use the crosswalk to get across. We have been operating in the market for 15 years and have never experienced any incidents. Furthermore, we hold all necessary documentation and permits. Regardless, we appreciate your feedback.
Well, it was. An excellent experience I like to travel here with this medium
My family stayed at the Royalton Splash. The bus ride to the advertised speedboat in the listing was almost 2 hours. The kids are 4 and 7. Once we arrived, we waited for 45 minutes on the shore waiting for our boat. There were about 200 people waiting in other groups. The boat was not a speed boat, it sat 50 people. When we arrived at Saona island, it was packed with other tours. Very busy. The catamaran on the way back was huge and packed full. I'd say it held 180 people. Our guides were lovely. It was a very long day given that we had to be up at 6:30 am to be ready and we did not get back until 7pm. Too long for the kids and way too many people for it to be enjoyable for us.
Good morning, Ma'am. Thank you for your review; however, we would like to clarify that none of our vessels carry 180 people—in the Dominican Republic, vessels of that capacity do not exist, nor are they permitted. Our boats have a capacity of 70 passengers, and we never reach that limit—especially on weekdays, which is when you visited. Furthermore, we would like to remind you that Saona Island is not private property; it is a public beach visited by numerous tour operators. Regarding the various groups waiting at the pier for their respective boats: please keep in mind that this is the *only* pier used by all companies traveling to Saona Island, as there are no other docking facilities available in the area. Finally, regarding the travel time to Bayahibe—which takes 50 minutes—you were already aware of this duration, as you were informed of it in advance.
Great experience, the staff was well organized. They made sure everyone was safe and accounted for. This was a multi-adventure with the natural pool and the Island. The lunch as very good also. My only issue was that none of the staff spoke English, but there were others attending that were bi-lingual and helped.
Thank you very much for your review; we are delighted that you had a wonderful time. All of our staff members speak English. The only individuals who do not speak English are the independent contractors working for the boat company; however, our entire staff speaks English, as well as several other languages.
Saona island was beautiful. The food was great and drinks were flowing. The boat transportation with both speedboat and catamaran were great too. The bus transfer however took over 3 hours in the morning, and 2 more hours for the return. Very disorganized on that side. Manuel was a great tour guide.
Good morning. Thank you for your review. We would like to remind you that once a client is picked up from their hotel—and the other clients along the same route have been collected—everyone is taken to a central meeting point. There, we wait for the remaining clients arriving from other hotels; once everyone has gathered, we depart for Bayahibe, which is where we board the boat. The journey from Punta Cana to Bayahibe takes 55 minutes, depending on traffic—not 3 hours. The duration of this tour is calculated from the moment we depart the meeting point, not from the hotel. All tour operators follow this same procedure, and none of them take 3 hours.
The island was beautiful, but the trip felt rushed and overcrowded. Staff was friendly, but overall it could be better organized.
Good morning, and thank you for your review. We would like to remind you that the island is not private and that other companies also visit it; many companies bring their clients to the island to enjoy it.
We didn't particularly enjoy our excursion to Sanoa Island. From the pickup to the transfer and the 2 hour ride to the wharf we were crammed into little vans and it was scorching hot . There wasn’t enough seats for everyone and some ppl were left behind . Once arriving we waited quite a bit before being able to board the boat , once we board we were taken about 15 minutes out where we had to transfer to the catamaran in the middle of the water - it was unpleasant. Once aboard the catamaran it was beautiful but then almost immediately we were bothered and pretty much forced into taking photos from The “ professional” photographers on board . We denied and said no thank you 25 times but they took us by the arm and placed us in a pose and started taking our photos . We did not like that one bit . We just wanted to me left alone to relax and enjoy the cruise . The catamaran bar SUCKED , they only had dark rum with cola or sprite. That’s it Once we arrived at the “ natural pool “ it was absolutely beautiful…but… once again the photographers starting taking our pictures . They would not take no for an answer . We stayed at the natural pool for maybe 20-30 mins . Once we arrived to Sanoa Island it was very beautiful. First thing we did was have lunch , in my opinion it was terrible food ( and I’ve been enjoying resort food very much! And I’m not picky at all) I just did not enjoy the food on the island at all! We were not given any drinks at all , we went searching for water and found it at another little hut. While trying to eat what we could the locals started ….none stop for time we were on the island someone was trying to sell us something. Over and over and over they were all around us trying to sell us pineapples , jewelry , sun hats etccccc literally anything . It was soooooooo annoying it literally took all our time and we couldn’t even enjoy the island . Not that it mattered much because The water was soooo rocky and full of sharp shells etc that we couldn’t even go barefoot in the water. I don’t even want to go into the photographers …..they came to sit with us and showed us all the pics they took and wouldn’t leave until we bought them !! Selling them at $10USD , and they took 74 pics of me and my daughter ! They bugged and bugged and would not leave us alone until we bought them. I did not have enough cash to buy them …but no worries …. HE CAME BACK TO THE RESORT WITH J US…..to get his money !!!!!! Overall everything was beautiful aesthetically but that’s about it . Everything else was HORRIBLE . We did not enjoy it ! There’s a lot more to it but I already wrote so much so I’ll leave it at that
Good afternoon, Ms. Jessie, First of all, we want to thank you for sharing your experience with us, as it allows us to clarify some important points about your excursion. Regarding the transportation that picked you up at your hotel, we would like to inform you that it was a vehicle with a capacity for 35 passengers, which meets all the standards for comfortably transporting that number of people. In fact, these vehicles often travel with fewer passengers, but no one is ever left without a seat. We regret that we cannot show you a photograph of it through this medium, but you can rest assured that it meets the required capacity. Regarding the transfer to the catamaran, it is important to explain that, due to the weight of these vessels, no company can anchor them directly on the shore, as this would pose a risk. For this reason, a transfer by boat is made from the shore to the catamaran, which is located a few meters offshore. This is a standard procedure for all excursions of this type. Regarding the photographers, as you can see in the tour description, they are independent companies operating at the destination and are not part of our company. We regret that you had an unpleasant experience with them. As for the local vendors, they are people who live on the island and earn a living by offering their products to visitors. It is important to remember that you are under no obligation to buy anything you don't want. This is common in virtually every tourist destination in the world and is part of the cultural experience of each place. Regarding lunch, we would like to remind you that we offer a Dominican buffet on the beach, which is different from the dining experience at a resort. While the hotel has industrial kitchens and a wide variety of options, the tour aims to offer a more authentic experience closer to the beach, in a natural setting away from the resort's amenities. Indeed, when guests are looking for more tranquility and wish to avoid these types of interactions, we always recommend enjoying the resort's facilities. However, on any excursion you book, whether in the Dominican Republic or any other destination, it's common to find local vendors offering their products, as part of the culture and daily life of each region. We appreciate your feedback again and hope that, despite these inconveniences, you were able to enjoy some pleasant moments in the beautiful natural surroundings the island offers. We remain at your disposal for any further questions.
Em sea and the beach are amazing. No photos do them justice. Lunch and facilities are precarious. In the bathrooms there are many mosquitoes
