We had a lovely and educational day with Margarethe in Bolgheri. We had just come from Piemonte, and it was so interesting to see the differences in the vineyard management and geography in Bolgheri. We visited two wineries where we had detailed tours of the properties, each with a different emphasis. The views from both were amazing! We were able to taste great representations of the Bolgheri style of red blend wines and ended up buying some to be shipped home. The osteria lunch in the village of Bolgheri was a high point as well. We valued the fact that Margarethe is a credentialed wine educator and was able to answer whatever questions we came up with. She also took some great photos that she sent on to us that evening. If we are ever lucky enough to return to Bolgheri, I would not hesitate to book this tour again.

We also cannot forget to mention Max, our dapper driver for the day! My experience with the Bolgheri Wine Tours was simply unforgettable — one of those days that stay in memory and taste. From the first contact, with Margarethe, everything was impeccably organized, with attention to the details and a care that reflected the love for the region and the wines produced there. I had the privilege of visiting two charming wineries, each with its own personality and history, but both with the same standard of excellence. The first was a true immersion in the tradition of Bolgheri and with a team that welcomed me with a sincere smile and a cup in the hand. Their passion for their wines made the tasting even more special and exciting. Each wine seemed to tell a different story At the second winery, I was immersed in an equally passionate experience. It was fascinating to see how Bolgheri manages to combine classic and innovative in such a harmonious way. Tasting wines of different styles, comparing aromas and textures, made me understand why Bolgheri is one of the most prestigious regions of Tuscany. Between a glass and another, lunch came, and that lunch! Served in a bucolic setting, surrounded by vineyards and olive trees, it was a true celebration of the senses. Typical dishes of the Tuscan cuisine, prepared with fresh ingredients and accompanied, of course, by carefully harmonized local wines. Each cup seemed to have been designed to enhance the taste of the wines — and each snack, to value the food. The perfect combination. What most impressed me was the professionalism and sympathy of the Bolgheri Wine Tours team. They not only lead a visit, but provide a true experience. They are passionate about what they do and can convey this enthusiasm in a natural, light and engaging way. It’s that kind of tour where you feel more like a guest than a tourist. I left Bolgheri enchanted — with the wines, the landscapes and the care of those who made it happen. I recommend it with close eyes to those who love wine, gastronomy and authentic moments. It was a day that combined learning, pleasure and emotion to the right extent. No doubt, an experience I want to repeat. Bolgheri has conquered my heart (and my taste) forever.

We were highly recommended to Bolgheri wine tours by friends who used their services last year…and we have to say…Margarethe delivered a first class experience from initial contact, winery and lunch selections and the 2 day visits! She, accompanied by her professional driver Max… gave us the vip treatment. While Bolgheri is magnificent… its experience is truly elevated by the passionate and knowledgeable ambassador role Margarethe provided… she further extended to her time to reserve wineries and restaurants for our own visits beyond what was expected. Our trip was fantastic and memorable!

Our first wine tasting experience in Italy was phenomenal. Margarethe was an outstanding tour guide and helped make the day fun and memorable. The day went better than expected as we brought our two and four year old with us. The wineries were spectacular and welcoming - I learned a lot from Margarethe and also met the owner of each winery visited. Bolgheri is a hidden gem.

We gave out many ratings over a fantastic week of wine tasting in Tuscany. However, we only gave one five-star review and this is it - Margarethe and Francesca at Bolgheri Wine Tours. Grazie. From the moment we reached out, they were amazing—wielding local knowledge, kindly nodding when we kept saying Ornellaia and Sassicaia (like apparently almost everyone else), and had great recommendations across-the-board we well as an uncanny ability to respond promptly to emails and WhatsApp messages. A few lessons learned: 1. Listen to them. While no one will ever say tasting the biggest names in Bolgheri is a bad idea, their additional recommendations were amazing. 2. Seriously, listen to them. See item 1 above. 3. They are super nice, wonderfully helpful and just good people. They were incredibly flexible and gracious with their time – please don’t be the pains we were! And when a last-minute conflict came up, they adjusted seamlessly and graciously to ensure we had a phenomenal experience. More specifically, they curated a perfect day and a half through Bolgheri: stunning wineries, incredible wines, amazing restaurants (including a historical enoteca), and people who genuinely love what they do (including us by the end of glass number… well, who’s counting?). Logistically, the timing, reservations, driving (Christian is great), wine shipping arrangements, etc. were all super smooth. And the one day we had lunch in town with Francesca, it was like being with a rock star – everyone knew her and made a point to stop and say hello. If you’re looking for a day in Bolgheri [the best wine region in the world] that’s stress-free, unforgettable, and full of joy (and, yes, wine), stop scrolling and just book them. Seriously.
