I'm glad I did this tour in the morning. It really got crowded. This was a true highlight for me, topped off by a truly excellent guide, Enrico, who is a classical archeologist. It made all the difference for me as an amateur historian! Wish I could have spent more time but absolutely zero regrets!
This was not a tour at all. They send me a link with my tickets and we were on our own. The tittle is misleading.
Our tour guide was Magda. She was a great guide, caring that we had water and shade. She was so well informed and easy to listen, and did not rush us. We enjoyed all her history knowledge. She deserves a raise.
A literal volcano eruption canceled our flight to Rome, and this company still wouldn’t refund us. Not only that, but they lied and sent us an email saying they couldn’t come in with us because the Italian government had banned guides coming in. A simple Google search revealed that that wasn’t true, and that it was only unauthorized tour companies that aren’t allowed in. Turns out they are NOT on the list of accredited companies to conduct tours. Do NOT book with them.
Be careful!!!! I have not read the reviews and I booked a full tour to colosseum and vatican 550 euros for 4 persons. They canceled LITERALLY 5 minutes before the meeting 08:40. Disaster. Fortunately I have booked via Booking.com and I got a full refund but I asked the Show me Italy for a written mail with the excuse they told me. We left without ever visiting Vatican city. In Colloseum we bought our own tickets...
The Collesseum is fantastic, BUT... I thought I'd booked a 09:00 entrance, turns out my entrance was at 11:00 as the audio takes you round the forum first, WELL, that's if you get the audio! The digital tickets say that you don't need any further tickets, but you have to go find a 3rd party ticket office who just tells you to wait under a tree so they can email Viator to validate your tickets. We then waited over an hour to gain access to the audio guide. When I finally got the email for the guide, the link opened a link for "Rebecca". Now, I'm sure she's lovely, but Rebecca had used her link on May 31st, and as it's a single use link, this did nothing for me! So, I contacted Viator and waited a further 30 mins to finally get the audio link for my group, however, nobody I shared it to could download as there was no WiFi. Having access to the audio earlier would have meant my kids and parents could have downloaded it, but no, we still haven't listened to it, waste of time, should have just got tickets on the day, such a faff. I'd booked 9am as it gets so hot, however, we ended up in there at the hottest time of day after sitting around doing nothing for a few hours waiting for the audio and feeling a bit lost. Still haven't seen the forum as we were all too hot and fed up by the time we managed to access the collesseum. Save your money, buy tickets from the site, this was a total pain in my backside!
What a wonderful day! Our guide Sylvia was so helpful and informative. She kept us at a good pace—not too fast, not too slow. I learned so much from her and our family had a great time!
Sylvia was absolutely amazing full of information fun to listen to. She made the tour and the information about the Palatine and the Coliseum easy to understand. She helped us build a wealth of memories forever! Make sure if visiting in July you have a very cold bottle of water and you make sure you eat before you start the tour.
Our tour time was changed and when we got there, it was one guy trying to check in 50 people. He nor anyone else had a clue what was going on. They ended up sending us to look at the coliseum on our own with now guide. Told us to come back to that point after we were done. When we got back they put us with a random groups and guide(she did a splendid job) afterwards that group got to go to the coliseum with an actual guide and we were told we were done. It was a little disappointing. We had also booked hop on/off bus in London but waited 45 minutes and bus never came so we switched to a different company.
I booked through TripAdvisor a Colosseum audio tour for 3pm. TripAdvisor sent me a ticket for 3pm which I added to my AppleWallet. The day before the tour Show Me Italy sent me a link for the audio tour as well as entry tickets for 5pm. I reached out to Show Me Italy like their tickets said to (both by text and by email) 3 times but no one ever responded. We showed up at 3pm like our TripAdvisor said and were denied entry. 1 of the 3 of us went back at 5pm withe the ShowMeItaly tickets and got in, but because of a prior commitment the other 2 of us were not able to go at that time. I do not recommend booking this through TripAdvisor - I would book directly with an operator that responds to messages.
