Did a tour of anchorage as we had one day here before we started our expedition of Alaska. Our guide was friendly and informative. Loves her job and Alaska. Answered our questions and gave personal stories of her adventures. Got a taste of anchorage and it was a perfect way to begin our journey. Some walking. Some driving. Between 2-3 hours. Snacks and a pit stop would Definately recommend!
Alex was a great tour guide. Very informative and demonstrated great knowledge of Anchorage and the city’s history. Small group enhanced the experience.
This was a GREAT tour, and a terrific value. Our guide David packed so much interesting information into the 2 1/2 hours. Good directions to the pickup site, and guide was very punctual. (Only complaint here is that there was no sign and no human on the site there to assure we were in the right place when we arrived, only some irritated-sounding Convention Center people.) The van was very comfortable, and even in my very middle of the van, middle seat in the middle row place, I could see everything as well as everyone else on the tour. David kept up a running commentary the entire drive, but not the bored monotone rote memorized spiel you often get on a tour. He was a deep well of knowledge that kept a constant flow of fascinating information coming. Because of the small size of the group (max of 12 per tour), he was highly personalized in his content, and we could all participate in the Q&A that were exchanged. It was more like a small group (duh) outing with a friend who had been there and done that hundreds of times before, and had so many experiences he knew we woud love, and so many facts he knew we would enjoy hearing. Definitely not summer-only type guide, but someone who has lived here for > two decades, and has loved and experienced Alaska and Anchorage for years. Great choice of sites where we stopped, one of which I would never have been able to even locate without his tour, not even with a GPS. I had been to two other of the stops already, but got so much more out of the trip there with David. He even had binoculars for anyone who didn't have their own, and insect repellant if you needed it. I cannot recommend this tour enough. I would for sure do it again when I have another friend i town.
Anchorage City Tour and Highlights was an exceptional tour. Our guide, David, was very knowledgeable of the area, its culture and history. The van was comfortable with 360 degree visibility. We visited 4 stops that were key areas in the history of Anchorage and David provided a lot of details in the drive from one stop to another. We were pleasantly surprised by the tour as we were expecting more downtown, but were rewarded with a drive to an overlook outside of the downtown city. Some recommendations: 1. Tell everyone about the Alaska State Bird – the mosquito, in the ”things to know” email. Bug spray and head netting might be a good idea
Good tour but inflexible guide. We wanted drops off on the way but he said not safe to stop anywhere except the pick up point which was untrue. Otherwise knowledgeable and good
If you only have a few hours, this is a good tour. My favorite was the Seaplane base at Lake Hood. We didn’t get to go to Earthquake Park because there were too many mosquitoes. Alex was a great guide.
Relaxing and informative water snacks provided
Really great tour for a very informative, interesting, and enjoyable introduction to Anchorage. Comfortable van, I was seated in the very middle, in a middle seat, and I could see everything anyone else could see. Our guide David was outstanding. So friendly, so knowledgeable, so interesting, and some perfect site visits. Even if we had visited the same sites on our own, it wouldn't have been nearly as meaningful as it was with David's background and insights about everything. One site, I am sure we would never have even found without him, even with GPS. There was nothing bored, or boring, or memorized and rehearsed monotone delivery about this; everything David told us was alive and in the moment, and you knew it came from a deep well of familiarity with and love for Alaska and Anchorage; I know he could have kept talking so much more, and it would have all been super interesting. He kept us engaged and fascinated the entire 2 1/2 hours. I loved the small group, max of 12; so much more personal. I would do this tour again.
Great tour. David is awesome. Highly recomend.
This is a wonderful tour to get to know the city and the whole area/history. Nice little strolls and a lot of info about the nature and people.
