This tour was a bait and switch. We paid for a small group tour, 15 people or less, in a small van and narrated in English. When we arrived after having the meeting place changed we were put on a large bus with 40+ people and had to listen to Spanish and English narrative for the day. When I requested the difference for the price paid for my more expensive tour to the lesser tour provided I was told that sometimes changes have to be made to bookings. No offer of a refund. We saw some nice sights, but NOT what we booked and DEFINITELY NOT what we paid for.
I’ve done many trips with Viator and they have always been super good. This was a horrible experience. We were at the pickup point 45 minutes ahead of time. There were many other tour groups there as well. I went to 6 different guides asking if we were in their groups and showing them my reservations, and not one had us on their list. I called the contact number and he had no idea at first. Finally the contact called me back 20 minutes later and was told I had been switched to a different tour group. The problem was no one had told me or the new tour group. By that time , all the tour groups had left and we missed out on our all day tour. To make things worse, Viator is telling me I will NOT get a refund even though I have proof of their mistake. It will be a very long time if any, that I will book trips with Viator. Their customer service is the worse I’ve ever. I’d steer clear!
We took this tour on our last day and we truly enjoyed the tour. Jorge was very knowledgeable and accomodating. Our driver Paschal was awesome as well.
Diego was a great guide, he had a wealth of information about the political history of Brugge and Ghent. Only had 2 small issues. We were not told that we needed to bring headphones so had to pay 1 euro to purchase some. The cost was not the issue but the waste. I would rather have brought my own if it was communicated. Bigger issue is that the Bus we traveled on was very, very uncomfortable. The Tour was too large requiring the very back bench to be used and it was very unpleasant for a fairly long journey.
