A Cisterna da Basílica foi projetada para atender ao Grande Palácio Bizantino e aos edifícios ao redor. Ela era capaz de armazenar até 100.000 toneladas de água entregues por 20 km de aquedutos de um reservatório ao redor da Floresta de Belgrado. A Cisterna da Basílica (Cisterna Subterrânea, Yerebatan) é uma das cisternas mais famosas de Istambul. Foi construída durante o Império Bizantino e depois não foi usada pelo Império Otomano e esquecida por muito tempo. Desde que foi descoberta e restaurada agora. É usada como museu desde 1988.

The tour guide was very helpful. My friend missed the tram, and the guide went with him on the tram.
The guide was very kind and offered us to visit the racetrack as well, it is a place with a lot of history and a wonderful architecture and ambiance. I felt like I was in the 007 movie walking along those walkways. I would have liked the tour to be available in Spanish.
