We had an incredible experience in Varanasi with Roobaro Walks. We joined the North Tour, the Sunrise Boat, and the South Walk, and all three were truly memorable. Our guide, Amu, was absolutely fantastic. Knowledgeable, warm, and passionate, he made the city come alive for us. The North Tour was definitely our favorite — we learned so much about the history, spirituality, rituals, and daily life of Varanasi. It gave us a depth of understanding that we simply wouldn’t have had exploring on our own. The Sunrise Boat was magical and peaceful, watching the city slowly wake up along the ghats. The South Walk beautifully complemented the experience, showing us another side of Varanasi and helping us connect even more with its atmosphere and meaning. What’s more, Amu is an amazing photographer under-covered! Honestly, our time in Varanasi would not have been the same without these tours. If you really want to understand the soul of this city and not just see it, we couldn’t recommend Roobaro Walks — and especially Amu — more highly.

Roobaroo Walks tour was amazing. We booked both City of Good Life and Essential tours. From wandering the labyrinth of Old Town (better keep up it's truly a Medevil maze) and often stopping at shops for exotic tastes of local favs and chats and sometimes hugs with the lovely residents to floating on the Ganga and learning the Varanasi's deep connection to the sacred river that all of life and death revolves around. Our guide Anupam, left us with a deep deep understanding of the City... far beyond a laundry list of dates and historic incidents. In fact, Rooobaroo masterfully conveyed that it is not time and larger-than-life figures that matter to Varanasi but the timelessness of faith and the rhythm of life that is at the core of this ancient world. A chance wander for a photograph was the occasion for us to eat fruit from a 500 year old tree under which the Hindu God Hanuman appeared and inspired Tulsi Das ji to bring the story of Rama to the masses... and - if you're lucky - you'll get to see the local guys wrestling in the siltly soil that Ganga brings each year. We were very lucky to find Roobaroo and can't recommend them enough.

Our recent family trip to Varanasi was transformed into an extraordinary exploration of the city's heart and soul, thanks to Roobaroo Walks and our exceptional storyteller, Anupam. The meticulously curated heritage and food walk provided us with an authentic glimpse into the life of this historic city and its authentic flavors. We started our day with the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti to awaken the river, accompanied by a cup of Kulhad chai and the calming sounds of morning rituals—a truly unique experience. This was followed by a serene boat ride along the ghats of Ganga, with Anupam's expert storytelling illuminating the history and culture of each ghat. The culinary delights introduced by Roobaroo Walks were equally enchanting; the north walk had us savoring Varanasi's heavenly delights—relishing the best chaat, thandai, pani puri, dahi jalebi, and so much more. Amidst the vibrant chaos of the markets and alleys, Anupam led us to a secluded hidden gem—a beautiful temple with intricate carvings and architecture that added to the mystique of our experience. I have visited many places, but this was the first time I truly lived and breathed a city, thanks to Anupam and Roobaroo Walks. Their tours are a testament to the beauty of discovery and connection, and I wholeheartedly recommend this experience to anyone seeking to uncover the true essence of Varanasi. Our family is already eager for our next adventure with Roobaroo Walks!

My recent Varanasi adventure with my siblings and grandmother was unforgettable, thanks to three amazing walking tours that let us see the city like a local. We kicked things off with a sunset boat tour - imagine starting with a kulhad of chai, watching a stunning sunset, and soaking in the Ganga Aarti from the comfort of a boat while chatting about life, death, Shiva, and all things in between. The sunrise boat tour paired with a south walk was equally magical: a quiet morning aarti at Assi, a sunrise that lit up the river, hidden temples, a peek at the Tulsi Das house, and even some hilarious moments watching 50-year-olds doing frog jumps better than my own 26-year-old self. And let’s not forget the food and north walk - mouthwatering chaat, thandai, pani puri, and paan, plus a tucked-away temple that felt like a hidden gem in the midst of chaos. Anupam and the Roobaroo team made the experience truly special. Anupam’s genuine passion, deep knowledge, and friendly, patient storytelling brought Varanasi to life in a way that felt personal and intimate. His ability to blend the city’s rich history with everyday quirks made every step of our journey memorable. I can’t recommend Roobaroo Walks enough—this experience has made me fall in love with Varanasi all over again, and I’m already looking forward to my next adventure with them!

We had an amazing experience with Roobaroo Walks. A huge shout out to Tulika for coordinating with us, and to Anupam for showing us "his" home(Varanasi). The city comes alive with his stories and anecdotes. He made it so interesting with small games as well. We had two kids aged four with us, and he was more than Happy to bear with the kids as well. He took us to places that we may have never known. We would love to come again enjoy the full experience with Roobaroo Walks. He is a very nice photographer as well and clicked some of our best pictures. He took us to eateries where one can get authentic banarasi food - Kachori, Jalebi, thandai, paan and many more. He showed us the hidden gems of the city too.

Anupam is the best guide and friend to be found in Varanasi. He can take you to places that instagram followers can't. And you get to hear mythology and history of Banaras while you eat the best delicacies it is famous for. Would definitely do this again!

Recently visited Varanasi and I very strongly recommend Roobaroo walks. Their ability to adapt to our diverse group (my mother, my 9 year old daughter and myself) and its needs ranging across fun, art, music, culture and religion, was outstanding. Anupam, their story teller is very knowledgeable and hospitable. He made us feel completely at home. I can say with a lot of conviction that one of the best ways to experience Varanasi would be to do it with Roobaroo walks.

Roobaroo was my second time this year during Dev Deepawali. Thanks to Tulika for suggesting me to stay and witness Dev Deepawali in Varanasi. Our Storyteller Anupam is an excellent human, compassionate and mindful. Me and my maa had one of our best Tirtha Yatra this 2024 with Roobaroo. The morning Ganga Arti at Assi ghat to Havan and Beautiful Boat Ride on Ganges, enjoying the serenity of Sunrise on one side to the humdrum of tbe ghat life on the other side. Each time Kashi gives us a new story to reveal and something to come back to her quickly again. The evening boat ride and witnessing the Beautiful, Magnificent Dev Deepawali with Roobaroo is both Exciting, emotional and Enthralling. You are soaked in spiritual abundance and enchanting beauty of Kashi and Ganges on a Full Moon night.
