A must do while in Chania!! Highlight of our trip!
Dear Catherine, Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for your kind words! We are truly delighted to hear that the Chania Food & Wine Tasting Tour was a highlight of your trip and that you enjoyed the local flavors, the wine tasting with Fay, and your time exploring Chania with Michael. It was a real pleasure to host you, and we hope to welcome you back to Crete again in the future for more authentic experiences!
5 of 5 if not a total 10! Our guide Michael was exceptional. He had experience, local perspective and took us to a few places a big tour group would certainly miss. One of my all time favorite tours.
Fantastic from beginning to end! Michael was superb & made our first trip to Chania memorable. The food, walking tour, and wine tasting exceeded our expectations. Book this tour!
Dear Martha, Thank you for your review! We are happy that you enjoyed you experience with our company and we are looking forward to seeing you again and showing you more of the beauties of our island!
Well…the only place to start is with the great man himself, Michalis. Absolutely brilliant chat / info / banter / driving skills. And the areas visited….exceptional. Wineries / olive oil mills / breweries / WWII hero monuments. Just brilliant. Cannot recommend highly enough. In fact Trip Advisor, you should have more than 5 ⭐️ for people cause these guys are 5+ Tip Top 5A ⭐️ + 😂
Dear Nick, We thank you for your review! Many greetings to all the group and especially to mr ALAN!!!
This was the last port we were visiting. There were just two of us for the tour. We loved the idea of not just learning a little about the history of Chania, Crete but experiencing some of the food and culture. We hopefully will remember what we learned but we will never forget what we ate & drank! We connected with Crete Private Guide. Pre-tour communication was excellent. Our guide Michael was fantastic - spoke perfect English, knowledgeable and friendly. Our first stop was for bougatsa (traditional Greek pastry) - this place hasn't changed the recipe in over 40 years - it was amazing! Next we stopped at a bakery to try out other traditional treats, then it was off to a fabulous cheese shop. Chania has the feel of a small city but also a quaint town and a beautiful waterfront. Our last stop was for a wine tasting. This was a Wow! We learned so much about wine and how to drink it! We have always traveled and taken private tours and it is 100% the way to see and learn about places and people. Michael was the best, we felt like friends when it ended.
A wonderful morning with Michael - he was excellent with our 3 children (18, 15 & 11) changing the tour to accomodate them (and the very warm weather!) The food was plentiful, delicious and truly Cretan. Thank you so much Michael. And thank you for helping us choose some lovely souvenirs to bring home. :)
We are two couples that just spent three fantastic days with our guide Michael. He was with us for at least eight hours each day and showed us a part of Crete that we never would’ve seen on our own. He was extremely knowledgeable, cheerful helpful, and put together an incredible package. we ate in restaurants we never would’ve picked on our own and tried so many different samples of food that by the end of the day we could barely move. We visited all parts of the island from the east to the west, including climbing into the cave of Zeus, which was an incredible experience . Coming at this time of the year was perfect because the crowds were not too bad! On the first day, we actually had a wine tasting at a lovely small shop in the city of Chania. We explored the entire city and walked along the old harbor. Our day was filled with the tasting of incredible foods. The second day we went on to the city of Heraklion. We also toured the entire city as well as having an incredible lunch. Our lunches would last over an hour or more and we’d have as many as 10 different courses! We also toured a beautiful winery outside of the town as well as tasted some incredible olive oil. The big highlight of the tour was the visitor of the Knossos palace. A definite highlight that everyone should at least see while in Crete. On the third day we went and visited the beautiful cave of Melidoni from Mylopotamos. it is a very small cave and out of the way many tourists do not go here but our guide Michael knew all about it and showed us the way. Roads are extremely windy, almost like a roller coaster in the mountains of Crete. The views were spectacular. From there we went on to the cave of Zeus, which was much bigger in the first cave. quite a hike up a very long semi steep hill but we all made it. Probably not a good place to go in the heat of the day if you are not used to hiking. But the cave was cool and dark, but there were thousands of stairs! We all made it huffing and puffing. You can take a mule up and a mule down and I think it was like 20 euros going up in 20 euros going down if you wanted to. At the very bottom of the hike it was a fabulous restaurant where we had another 10 course lunch. On our way down from the mountains and then headed back to our hotel in. Rethymnon. It was very sad to say goodbye. Totally recommend this company and ask for MICHAEL! . He does an outstanding job and takes care of your every need.
