Unfortunately what we asked for eg. E-bike for a 3 hr bike tour and a national park 3 hr walk turned into a hard very hilly (10% grade) ride, not on an e-bike, despite one of us being 70 yrs old. The gears also constantly slipped and grated, which made for hard going up the hills. And a 6km round trip similarly hilly walk, along a recently concreted path through a part of forest, past roadworks, to a dead end. Our guide however was a lovely man, very personable, friendly, who tried his very best to help us enjoy the experience. Taking lots of photos for us. Gave us a little picnic at the dead end before we walked back. Google translate was an essential aid to help with our communication with him. The visit to the bee hive keeper’s home was fascinating, but again, English was a problem although Google came to the rescue. And the Hospital Cave was well worth visiting.
Dear Irene, Thank you very much to you and your son for joining our 2-day 1-night tour on Cat Ba Island, and for taking the time to share your valuable feedback. We sincerely apologize that our travel consultant did not inform our operations team about your request for an e-bike on the first afternoon. We have already addressed this issue internally to ensure that such a misunderstanding will not happen again. Regarding the cycling activity in Cat Ba National Park, for safety reasons, electric bicycles are not used in this area. This information was communicated to your son in advance, but we truly regret that it caused any inconvenience. We have also checked our bicycles and service procedures again to prevent similar issues as you met with the gears in the future. We are very glad to know that you enjoyed your time with our friendly guide, and that he did his best to assist you throughout the journey. Most of our team members are local people from Cat Ba, and while their English is still improving, they are always eager to share the beauty and culture of their hometown. We are investing in English training to help them communicate more confidently with our international guests. Thank you once again for your helpful comments — they help us continue improving and offering better experiences for our future visitors. We hope, despite the challenges, that you still had memorable moments discovering Cat Ba’s natural charm. We would love to welcome you back one day to show you an even better version of our service. Kind regards, The Cat Ba Wellness DMC Team
