Em nenhum lugar na Eslovênia há tantos (restos de) castelos e mansões como existem na bacia do rio de Savinja. As razões para isso podem ser encontradas em vários fatos. Em primeiro lugar, é importante salientar que, até 1140, este era o centro do margraviate de Savinja, que muitas propriedades foram adquiridas pelos bispos da Caríntia Krško e, por último, mas não menos importante, que muitas famílias nobres se instalaram nesta área. Entre eles, os mais importantes eram certamente as poderosas contagens e príncipes de Celje.

Os Castelos são um reflexo de uma era, no entanto, as pessoas em diferentes períodos aceitaram e perceberam de forma bastante diferente, assim como a vida está recebendo novas formas o tempo todo. Castelos e casas senhoriais, com seu passado e presente extraordinários, sempre provocaram a imaginação humana. Várias histórias se entrelaçaram sobre os castelos, sobretudo sobre seus habitantes, que mais tarde foram transformados pelo povo e que foram informados a seus descendentes até hoje. E devido a todas essas histórias e lendas sobre os castelos e seus habitantes que foram mantidos pela tradição folclórica, ainda podemos (magicamente) reviver o passado das ruínas do castelo, que ainda ousadamente e orgulhosamente se destacam sobre os clifs e nos lembram sua antiga glória. Assim, muitas histórias e lendas sobre o Antigo Castelo de Celje, o Castelo Inferior, os Condes e os Príncipes de Celje e as pessoas de Teharje, foram contadas. A beautifully located castle with some excellent architectural ( modern) interpretations. Atmospheric & informative. Nice cafe.
A very beautiful day trip with your family, small kids or big it doesn't matter. Especially a great experience in the old print factory.

Well preserved medieval castle. Very interesting visit and spectacular views from the viewpoint and the tower. You can see all of Celje and its surroundings. It is worth the visit and the 7 euros it costs to enter.
Beautifully preserved castle on top of a mountain. Very nice views. On some days there are activities in the castle, but this was not during our visit.
It’s a nice option after the hike but you can also go by car, of course. The castle is well maintained and organised. The staff at the reception is kind and attentive. Different places and rooms with great views from the town of Celje. Some information about the history of the village and a nice cafeteria for an espresso.
Beautiful old castle with a lot of history. It used to belong to a powerful house of Grofje Celjski and it shows. It is placed above old city center of Celje which offers scenic views of Celje and its sourroundings. A must visit if you are around!
Was visiting this castle with my Erasmus programme. We had a lovely visit and guide was very good at explaining and answering the questions. However, tour was shorter than I expected.
Visited the Castle on a gorgeous sunny day and it was just wonderful You get a great feeling of medieval times and the walk ways between some of the buildings make you feel like you are on the set of a Game of Thrones episode Fabulous views from the top of the tower and really good information about the castle Nice little cafe at the entrance which is nice at the end, especially if the the weather was hot, like on our visit Well worth the €15 for a family of 4 !
Nice and beautiful castle with a cozy bar with small playground on. Beautiful view of the city. Not a super long visit, but for what you pay there definitely worth stopping.
