Campfire S'mores and Stars Tour em Kanab

This was a special experience, a highlight of my trip to Utah. My host was a fifth generation resident of Kanab with wonderful stories about the region, and why it's so special. We had the tour company's mama, papa and baby long horns visit us. Mama wanted to us to scratch her, like a puppy!. We were also visited by friendly horses. He taught me a Girl Scout's secret to make the perfect s'more. He taught me how to see objects clearly through my night-time binoculars. There were fun games set up like a safe-version hatchet throwing. And it's an excellent canyon space for star gazing, and very comfortable with plenty of seating. The conversation and the evening were splendid.
Cowboy John knows the terrain and the heavens well from years of outdoor experience. His stories and humor from local history are worth hearing and remembering. The sky was amazing and being around a camp fire roasting marshmallows and eating s’mores was an added treat.
There is a nice older man that tells stories about an old movie set and talks a lot about his own life (his biography). There is a nice campfire and s’mores. I thought it was going to be more about astronomy, but he did pull up his star app and use a laser to see some constellations (maybe 5 minutes). Wouldn’t do it again, not worth the time or money.
Loved the experience with Cowboy John! Great stories. Homemade marshmallows were worth it. Learned a lot about the Longhorn cattle.
Top experience! cowboy John the best!! We loved his sympathy and all his stories!!! starry sky without equal!
This was an amazing experience. Our host Cowboy John was entertaining, fun and his extensive knowledge of the history of the town and its celebrities, movies and tv shows filmed in Kanab was so interesting to hear. We loved this!!! Highly recommend. Plus, we know the BEST way to make s’mores now.
We discovered Campfire S'mores and Stars hosted by Adventure Tour Co through our Airbnb host, and I can honestly say—it was the highlight of our trip. I can’t recommend this experience highly enough! Cowboy John was the real deal—an incredible host, master s’mores maker, captivating storyteller, and even a seasoned UFO spotter. His knowledge of the Kanab area and the old fort was fascinating, and the way he shared its rich history made us feel like we were stepping back into the golden age of Westerns. I had no idea so many iconic shows and movies were filmed in and around Kanab—it added a whole new layer of charm to the evening. Despite a few clouds in the sky, we still got to witness the ethereal glow of the Strawberry Moon and picked out a handful of constellations. But one of the absolute highlights? The Longhorns. What majestic animals! We got to meet Lil Buddy up close, along with one of the newest calves—an unforgettable moment that made the evening feel even more special. This experience was truly magical from start to finish. If you’re anywhere near Kanab, don’t miss this one—it’s the kind of memory that lingers long after the campfire burns out
Out until after 10PM. Lots of fun with tales of moviestars and actual stars. Cowboy John was a great host and storyteller.
My family and I had a great time heading out to the old fort and hearing stories from Cowboy John. We even learned a new way of making S’mores!
Seeing the longhorn cattle and petting them was fun. The stars were bright but unfortunately we weren’t there during the time when the Milky Way was visible. Cowboy John was very knowledgeable and had lots of interesting stories.
