Caminhadas em Great Outdoors de Tenerife

We went on a hike with Andy this week and we all had a brilliant day. Even the kids (22 and 19) really enjoyed it and they are hard to please! Andy really knows his stuff and tells you a lot about the island whilst you are walking. The pace was just right and the trail he chose had amazing views and was just the right length. We were picked up and dropped off from right near where we were staying, which was great. I would definitely recommend booking a hike with Andy and seeing a different side of Tenerife. We booked four hikes with Andy during our first ever trip to Tenerife and it proved to be the most wonderful way to explore the island. Our time hiking with Andy absolutely made our holiday, providing so many moments and experiences we will never forget. I highly recommend hiking with Andy for anyone who loves walking or is open to exploring the island off the beaten track. Each hike was expertly planned and led by Andy, and each offered such different, but no less spectacular views, with ever changing terrain and such a variety of landscapes that we didn’t know existed on the island. Andy is fantastic guide and highly experienced which shows through in each hike he leads. We learnt so much - his knowledge of trails, the islands history, the flora and fauna and geology provided added interest to each walk. These hikes, gave us the opportunity to experience and see the island in a way few do when visiting Tenerife.

On 28th of May 2026 I experienced the Wow Factor Hike with Andy Tomkins from Tenerife Guided Walks. Together with another nice person and Andy we walked for 5,5 hours: up and down from appr. beyond the little village Vilaflor. We had a (unique) clear view during the whole walk. That was really great! We saw 3 other Canarian Islands, of course the famous vulcano, breathtaking scenery at above 2.000 meters and the famous flower! To do this walk you have to be fit. Andy is a really relaxed guide and the pace is fine. There is plenty of time to stop or slow down to make pictures and enjoy the views and environment. Or just walk and experience the silence. I do recommend this adventure!

I highly recommend this guide. He is a veteran hiking guide who knows every detail of the trails and surroundings. Safety and enjoyable walks are always his top priorities. Thank you so much for an amazing experience!

I booked 3 different hikes with Andy and had the best time exploring different terrains and landscape in different parts of the island. There were days when clouds might ruin the original plan but Andy knows all the trails in Tenerife so well that there was always a great plan B. I enjoyed the Las Vegas circular walk, the geology walk and the mount Samara walk with fellow hikers who were all friendly and lovely to chat with. Andy kept the pace steady and took time to talk about vegetation and take photos for us. Thank you!

I have been walking with andy for 5 years now and each year is as good as the 1st. This year we booked 3 hikes and were blessed with great views, the best company with fellow walkers as well as Andy and I loved every minute. Don't expect a route march to get your pb on strava, these are wonderful walks through beautiful areas of a Tenerife you never knew existed if you've only ever stayed in a resort. Andy gives time to enjoy views, take photos and talk about the nature around you- it's a fab day out and I can't recommend it enough😍

This is the second time that me and my husband have walked with Andy, booking a further 2 walks after having such an enjoyable experience last year. We didn’t get to do the walks we’d planned due to the weather but Andy used his knowledge and experience to take us out of the rain and into beautiful countryside ensuring we had a fantastic time. The spring flowers put on an amazing display and we felt lucky to see such a different side to the island and view of Teide. Andy is very knowledgeable and takes photos of the plants and views throughout the day which he kindly shared with you later. When we return to Tenerife I will definitely book again!

We did two walks with Andy - Masca from Above and The Wow Factor Walk. The walks offered different scenery from each other but both were fantastic and with some amazing views. It was a little hazy on the days we walked but we were lucky that it was dry and warm - I am sure there is something to see in all conditions, however, and I would highly recommend both these walks. I think one route was classed as 'moderate' and one as 'moderate to hard' difficulty - I would say these ratings were about right and being able to check this before you book means that you are on a walk suited to your ability. Andy takes the pace fairly steadily, with plenty of stops for water and photos. He also takes group photos while you are walking and shares these later via whatsapp, which is a really nice touch and an extra souvenir of the day. Andy has been walking in this area for a long time and knows the area incredibly well. We were able to do the routes that we had selected but I was confident that, if the weather conditions had been different, he would have found us an alternative route that would have been just as enjoyable. Andy picked us up from our apartment which was really convenient. Considering the pick up and length of the walk, I thought the trips offered good value for money as they were a full day out with a knowledgeable guide. On one day we walked in a group of 7, the second day was with a group of 12 (which I think is the maximum group size that Andy does and didn't feel too large). Everyone in the groups got on really well so it would be easy to join a group like this whether you book as a solo traveller, couple or family. I don't think you need to be an experienced walker but you do need to be reasonably fit for the walks we did and also make sure you have walking boots or trainers and a waterproof, just in case. In summary, the two days we walked with Andy were the two best days of our holiday and I would definitely book again if I come back to this area.

The weather threatened rain and Andy gave us a choice of walks to give us the best chance of avoiding the rain (which we did). We took the wow factor walk although unfortunately the clouds stayed low and we could not see Mt Teide. However, this was a really good walk with some great views. Quite a big ascent and descent at a steady moderate pace. On the way up Andy shared lots of information about the flora and fauna. This is a lovely walk. Not taxing if you are reasonably fit. I would recommend the experience. Andy was flexible to accommodate my family - thank you.

5 hikes, all thoroughly enjoyable, challenging and achievable. From Teide to countryside to gorges, waterfalls, lural and pine forest with spring flowers galore. A steady pace, lots of photo opportunities and amazing views. Be aware that if you experience adverse weather conditions, the booked walk will be changed for safety, but will be just as good! Andy has a wealth of experience with the Tenerife micro climates! He will send you all the photos taken on the walk too.
