Nice day trip to see some of the area. On time picked up at the hotel, nice van with air conditioning, water bottles and good driver. Nice guide, who adjusted the daily schedule to our pace and heat. Mangrove walk was interesting, lots of crabs seen. Then climbed the mountain top for the view, 700 meters was still quite a climb up the rocks, no steps! In case of rain don't, the rocks are already slippery on their own occasionally. Cool off on the river with boat ride, views of birds and monkeys. Delicious lunch to finish, enjoyed.
Pickup bang on time. Nice clean comfortable car. Polite, enthusiastic, friendly motivated driver/guide. Initial forest walk excellent, river trip excellent although low water level enforced re-routing so second walk section woth viewwpoint missed and boat trip ended with a paddle to the beach. Very acceptable lunch stop, nice food, welcoming staff. Afternoon mountain climb abandonned on advice of our guide and park rangers who warned of severe sunstroke risk, replaced with beach visit and scenic drive. We do feel that organisers could/should have anticipated this but all in all, a good trip.
The tour provided a very clear explanation of what to expect, with helpful information available in both Thai and English. The mangrove trail was flat and easy, making it suitable for anyone to walk without difficulty. It was also very calming to walk through, with beautiful surroundings that made it a nice, chill experience. The boat ride was calm and relaxing as well. The mountain hike is around 700 meters from the parking area to the top. If you’re used to hiking or walking in the mountains, it’s an easy trip. If you’re not in the best shape, it may be a bit more demanding—but it’s definitely doable. Overall, this was a well-organized and enjoyable experience, and I would definitely recommend it.
Well organized and with great service. The private tour allowed for a flexible design of the tour. Thank you so much!
A very informative and enjoyable day away from the resort. Our guide was very helpful, knowledgeable and good fun. I’d do it again.
We paid around 7,000 THB for this tour, which is very high for what you actually get. One day before the tour, I specifically asked the operator whether the weather could cause any problems. I was told everything would be fine. Despite this reassurance, Khao Daeng was cancelled on the day of the tour due to the weather. I understand that safety comes first, but being told in advance there would be no issues and then having a main part of the tour cancelled feels poorly communicated and managed. The operator was willing to offer a refund, but the amount was very low, only 1,200 THB and I had to unnecessarily argue/contact them to get even that. Given the price and what we missed, this felt inadequate. A fair refund should have been at least one third of the total price. The very first photo on the tour listing showed a beautiful lotus pond, which was a big reason I booked. However, this location is not mentioned anywhere in the description. After complaining, the operator removed the photo, but it could easily be added again. We did end up visiting the lotus pond, but during the tour the guide said it was not included in the itinerary. I could not have known the name of the place from just the photo, so it felt misleading not to list it properly. While the lotus pond was beautiful, it was never clearly communicated as an official part of the tour or as a replacement for Khao Daeng. The guide was friendly, but compared to other tours I have taken in Thailand, he didn’t provide much information about the places we visited. For the price we paid, I expected a more informative experience. Lunch did not include drinks. While it was only 50 THB, for such an expensive tour this felt unnecessary and added to the impression that the tour was overpriced and poor value for money. I understand weather can change, but unclear communication, misleading photos, the low refund after unnecessary arguing, and the overall poor value make it difficult to recommend this tour. It did not deliver what was advertised or what we paid for.
Dear Customer, Thank you very much for sharing your feedback. I would like to clarify a few points regarding your tour experience. You booked a private tour through a commission-based travel agency, which is naturally more expensive than a group tour. I confirmed the trip the day before via WhatsApp and the agency’s chat system. At that time, the weather forecast for the Sam Roi Yod region was favorable. Your reply to our confirmation came at 1:00 AM, when our office was closed, so unfortunately we were unable to respond immediately. On the morning of the tour, we checked the weather conditions twice with a national park employee, and the park was open as I had informed you. Later, when you and our guide reached Den Khao Daeng Mountain, the park was closed for safety reasons due to slippery rocks after a brief rain. To ensure your safety, our guide adjusted the itinerary and took you to other highlights, including the Buang Bua Walk and the popular Lotus Field. I understand your concerns about the weather, but please note that it is beyond our control. What we can do—and did—is carefully monitor conditions on-site to ensure suitability and safety. Your private tour included transportation in a private vehicle, a licensed English-speaking guide, lunch, drinking water, and travel insurance for the entire trip. These inclusions, along with applicable taxes, were clearly displayed during the booking process. Regarding your suggestion to reduce wages for our Thai staff, I must respectfully decline. Thailand has minimum wage requirements, and we are committed to fair compensation for our guides and drivers, who work hard to provide professional service. We truly value your feedback and hope this explanation clarifies the situation. Our priority is always your safety and satisfaction, and we appreciate the opportunity to serve you.
We enjoyed this trip, it is a great day out and the tour guide is knowledgable and friendly, it may have been nice to spend time with the tour guide and then had some time to ourselves, particularly as this is a private tour, we enjoyed the views and wildlife, a nice spot to stop for lunch, the hike up the mountain was a bit difficult in the heat - maybe this could be done in the morning instead? One negative is that I do not recall visiting the location that is shown on the picture of this tour.
Very important and for us an adventure from the walk to the bootstrip … the hikingtour to the viewpoint was an example - when you know what you do - can you get all 💪🏻
Fun Walk with family and great for kids to see the different species of trees and crabs in their natural habitat. We have been there twice in 2 years
Our guide, Bob, was very informative for every part of our day. We had the most delicious lunch by the beach. The Mangrove forest was fascinating and we saw a snake amongst other things! River trip also very interesting passing a fishing village and saw large monitor lizards, mudskippers, monkeys and lovely rock formations. Would recommend.
