Matthew our guide led us up a beautiful trail. He went the right pace and stopped at good times to let us catch our breath. We had several views of the east and north sides of the Matterhorn! At the top of our hike we stopped for coffee at a family owned restaurant that just opened for the summer season. Matthew has lived in Zermatt for 20 years so he was very knowledgeable about the mountains and other sights. The hike was about 5 miles and took about 4 hours. I am 65 years old and my wife is 71. We are in decent but not great shape physically. We enjoyed the hike and Matthew's company very much!
Garreth, our guide on our hiking tour was awesome! He gave us a lot of facts about the area and the wildlife we saw. The views were amazing!
Matthew was extremely knowledgeable, entertaining, and showed us an amazing experience on our hike to see the Matterhorn!! He was even willing to stop for an impromptu lunch at Zum See, a restaurant in a little village on the way down the mountain. It was truly a perfect day and we highly recommend asking for Matthew!

The half day hike was so worthwhile. Best to take the hike up slow as it is typical Alpine inclination. It is worthwhile for the little historical village that you visit, seeing the farm animals and the countryside is gorgeous. The guide gives good historical background on the area and historical changes.

When we realized that hiring a guide would likely make our "perfect weather forecast Zermatt Day" all the better, at the last minute (well, 36 hours in advance) I used Trip Advisor to help us find the right experience. Well, Trip Advisor helped us hit a "home run" with PDS and their guide Matt. Key to the entire day coming together was the personal communication from the PDS office team who listened to what we were looking for and recommended the "Edelweiss to Z'Mut" hike -with Matthew as our guide. Our day with Matthew was perfect. Matthew is knowledgeable, personable, careful and fun to spend half a day with! This hiking experience was simply outstanding and we highly recommend you reaching out to PDS-and ask for Matthew!
