Sergio was an excellent guide! Very calm, clear, and patient with me... even when I screamed. (Only once!) I felt very safe and had so much fun climbing - definitely recommend both this hike generally, and specifically Sergio as a guide. He was very generous with his knowledge about the local history, botany, and wildlife, making our hike a complex and nuanced experience that I will never forget! Obrigada Sergio!!
It was an excellent experience! We hiked up the Costão do Pão de Açúcar with our guide, Sérgio—me at 63 years old and my daughter, Gabriela, at 33. Sérgio was extremely attentive, sharing many stories about this and other trails in Rio, and giving us the confidence and sense of safety we needed to take on the challenge. Sérgio and the Nattrip team are to be congratulated for providing such special moments in contact with nature in the marvelous city. We will definitely meet again, we’re already planning our next adventure!
Super cool experience! Beautiful views and also a little challenge. There are maybe 4 pieces that are a challenging one. But with normal healthy fitness, they are very doable at your own pace. Compare those stretches to the intensity of climbing stairs to the 5th floor. There is 1 difficult part where you climb but you are sure and if you take it slowly and follow the instructions you will be fine. Definitely doable for beginners. A very nice introductory climbing and scrambling experience with truly exceptional views as a reward at the top. Guide Jessie was very nice. She has a lot of experience and supervises well. She's patient and pays close attention. For some, she can get a little ahead of herself but just let her know. Bring water and snacks and flexible shoes with good profile.
We had a blast! The entire trip was such an amazing experience We felt so safe and in good hands The views were breath taking, plenty of breaks and we hiked at our own pace
Thomas was an unbelievable guide. He’s knowledgable about the area, the geography and the history which adds to the trip. He’s a super fast elite climber if that’s what you want but he can also go very steady and slow. I would always put myself in the hands of an expert like Thomas whether you want to move quickly or slow and steady. I felt confident and safe all the way through. It’s a tough route for a novice but can be easily accomplished in the hands of a capable guide like Thomas. Don’t cut corners and respect the mountains. Whilst this is only a small peak it’s definitely a mountain.
We met our tour guide, Thomas, slightly early and it worked out great. We had about a 30 min walk to the trailhead and Thomas explained everything that we would experience and gave us tips. All along the way he kept motivating us and offering climbing tips and better ways to climb. Thomas really is an outstanding guide and person. We couldn’t have asked for a better person to help us along the way. You can tell he is really good at being a guide and enjoys making hikers successful. The hike was much more diffukt then we expected. Much steeper in places then we realized. Thomas made it look easy and got us to each resting point quickly. We made it to the top and felt great and safe. Communication with the company was great. Our tour had to be rescheduled by a day because of the weather and rain. I was thankful our safety was priority.
I really enjoyed the Sugarloaf hike/climb. Sergio was so encouraging and patient. I was a little nervous in some parts of the climb but he stuck by me and stayed positive which i really appreciated. It was an absolutely beautiful and enoyable day - one that I'll never forget! Thank you!
A special experience: Not like taking the Touris cable car to Rio's landmark... but climbing to the top on the route of the English first ascent of 1817 was legendary! Our guide Thomas Arias was not only cool and helpful but also very professional and competent. He also knew a lot about botany and history. However, a unique certainty of experience, freedom from dizziness and fitness are prerequisites. Otherwise absolutely do! Cornelius, Bad Tölz, Germany
The tour is great for (sporty) beginners, provided you are not afraid of heights. It may be a bit straining in some places and you're in the sun a lot. A somewhat more difficult spot is then also completed with rope safety. But we were led by Thomas from Argentina and he not only gave us tips on climbing here, but was also a good motivator and entertainer. You could tell he just enjoys his work. And of course, the outlook was simply good in many places.
We had an amazing Tour with Thomas and always felt save and comfortable. During the Tour he explained some Details about the Nature, Brazil etc. - it was a lot of fun. The views we had were stunning, really one of the Highlights during our stay in Rio. Communication before the Tour was via WhatsApp, easy and very Professional. Highway recommend to Book either Tour with them, you will not be disappointed.
