This is the best way to get acquainted with a new city. You see all of the major areas at a slower pace than by a bus. Our guide Matthew was very knowledgeable and informative.
We had a terrific guide and learned a lot about the city and history. We had plenty of time to stop to explore and take photos. It was one of the best ebike tours we have taken.
Superb tour of Budapest with electric bikes in excellent condition. Our guide Sébastien has a good knowledge of Budapest and its historical facts. Very warm welcome from the staff.
Merci beaucoup!
The tour was a great way to see the sites and learn about the history on the way Matthew was a fun, informed and attentive guide. He shared his beautiful city with us and we enjoyed the tour.
Great to hear, many thanks to you!
Booked 60+ days in advance and informed by Trip Advisor at 8PM the night before that the booking was cancelled. No weather issues.
Sorry, we understand your disappointment, but since a group of people canceled the participation with short notice we could not reach the minimum number of participants.
Great intro to the city with Oliver who is local. Loved all the history and the bikes were super easy to use.
Thank you Amy!
Our Guide Mathew was very nice, knowledgeable and went far and beyond to explain the history of every location we rode through, Budapest and Hungary in general. One of the best bicycle tours i ever had ( i do this 2-3 times a year in cities around the world) Thank you 🙏
Thanks for joining our tour, thanks for sharing your experience with it!
On the positive side we covered a lot of ground and saw some very interesting and beautiful sites around Budapest. However I cannot recommend this tour because of two things that happened at just about every stop. The first was that at each stop after explaining what the site was and why it was important, the guide would then share a corresponding fun fact about how Americans/Western Europeans historically either failed to help Hungarians or actively harmed them. We're guests in your country, we're on vacation, we're here to pedal around your beautiful city for a few hours and learn some of your history. We're not here to actively engage in a debate and defend where we come from, but the longer it went on the more I felt that by not saying anything that I was somehow agreeing with him. Among the many things said to us some highlights included why our capitalist way of life is terrible and communism is better, that our people didn't make much of a sacrifice in WWII, comments about Barack Obama not being American, and something about George Washington being Hungarian? It definitely got weird. The other thing that went on at each stop was that prior to describing the site there would essentially be a pop quiz. He would ask the group what we thought the site was or why we thought it was significant, and then he would stand there and wait an uncomfortable amount of time staring at everyone while we fumbled around for answers. We've never been here before. We came on a tour so that we could learn these things. Over the course of the 3 1/2 hour tour we probably spent a minimum of 30 minutes extra time just being stared while he waited for an answer. I felt like I was trying to take a test I didn't study for and the teacher was disappointed in me. I've been on plenty of other tours. Usually you stop at the site, they tell you what it is and why it's significant, answer some questions then move on to the next stop while keeping any personal feelings about the history of their guests' home nations to themselves. I've never experienced anything like this and I've never come away from a tour feeling so unwelcome. If it had been a walking tour I would've abandoned it but we were stuck because of having the bicycles. Whatever is said in response, defense or contradiction, I'm simply sharing my experience and how I felt while on this tour and afterwards. It was definitely a low point in an otherwise great two weeks in that region of the world. I did see one other review similar to this so I know it wasn't just me that had this experience and I wish I had heeded that review before booking. I do apologize that I don't remember the guide's name. I hate for this to reflect on the group as a whole as I'm sure there are other better ones. And finally I don't love giving a bad review but they also actively solicited reviews at the end of the tour so here it is.
We are sorry that you did not enjoy the tour, but when you hated it so much, why did you not tell us when returning to your shop? Instead of writing several negative reviews you could have told us, we are always happy to get a direct feedback. It is our most popular tour, but things can go wrong and if you think the behaviour of the tourguide was inappropriate we are especially interested to learn about it immediately. We take the remarks of our guests very seriously and like to learn about it immediately, Kind regards, Thomas
Awesome! Great way to see Budapest. Matthew was outstanding, knowledgeable, funny, smart, respectful. Best part of my trip so far
Hi John, many thanks for sharing your experience!
Best way to get a personal tour of the popular and even unknown gems. My guide showed me places and provided history and background of each place. It’s a must do excursion. Koszonom.
