My husband & I were gifted a food tour through “Portland by Mouth” from our daughter. We’re very familiar with all of the offered neighborhoods except N. Mississippi, so that’s the one we chose for a brunch excursion. Sherri was already waiting at our first stop, and took charge from there. Most of the food was prearranged at each restaurant, which kept it simple, but sometimes we could choose from a few options. The portions were small, but we had plenty to eat by the end of the tour. I was pleasantly surprised that Sherri also took us into other shops along the way between food stops. She was very knowledgeable about the community and the owners of each business. This neighborhood walk was very easy, and Sherri stopped frequently to point out unique features along the way that we might not have noticed otherwise. It was so interesting to hear all of the stories and sample the local fare. It just made us want to return another day and explore even more on our own. A big shout out to Sherri for learning about us, too, and tailoring the trip and conversations especially for us! I highly recommend the brunch tour in the sweet N. Mississippi neighborhood. It’s easily accessible by public transportation, which is our vibe, and there’s also plenty of street parking available.
Sherri was great! She gave us insights to the foods, chefs, their back stories and communicated knowledge about the city and the neighborhood. We visited non food establishments, as well, really making the experience wonderful.
David, it was a pleasure to have you both part of the Brunch on Mississippi tour. Especially our NY and even Commack connection - it felt like we were old friends! Thanks so much for making this part of your stay in Portland.
We really enjoyed our brunch tour. Our tour guide was well informed on the area along Mississippi Street and also could answer many other questions we asked about Portland in general. The food was very good and we were very full at the end of the tour. She also accommodated our dietary restrictions. It was fun to try new foods as well. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone including families.
We are delighted that you indulged in the Brunch on Mississippi tour during your time in Portland. We love to share what is special about the city with guests and of course, want all folks to enjoy the creativity, regardless of their dietary restrictions.
Going on a walking food tour with Sherri is always such a delight! She really knows her stuff about the neighborhoods and shares interesting little tidbits as we stroll along. Every bite of food we tried was delicious, but my absolute favorite has to be from Jinju Patisserie. So yummy!
Oh, we are so happy you enjoyed the Mississippi tour so much. We love to share our beautiful and delicious city with guests. And agreed, Jinju is a special place!
The tour of the Mississippi neighborhood was fun and interesting. Sherri knows the area history and she was able to share the background on all the food vendors. The food was good too!
It was just as much fun for me to show off the foodie scene in Portland, as it was for you to experience it. Thank you so much for making the food tour part of your Portland experience!
My sister and I have done two of the three tours so far and are looking forward to trying the last one. We have tasted delicious things, found new, interesting foodie places to shop and learned about yet another neighborhood in Portland. Sharri is knowledgeable about food and the areas we have been to, and I ended up with a new light fixture!
It was a pleasure seeing you both again - and the morning after Thanksgiving, no less. Thank you for making a Portland by Mouth food tour part of your family ritual. It's been fun getting to know and eat with you!
Sherri was very knowledgeable when taking us through the Mississippi district for brunch. The weather was great and the food was good. I think the tour was a bit different from what was listed online when booking, but still fun and we got to see many spots. We started off with a dessert pastry then walked about twenty minutes to Mississippi street, where we got fried egg sandwiches, tacos, truffle salt on popcorn, donuts, and coffee. We also stopped by a few other shops along the way that didn’t have food, but other knick knacks for us to learn about. It was a great way to meet other people who were also touring Portland like myself. Good people and good food. I would like to do something similar again.
Sherri is such an amazing guide! She brought us to great locally owned businesses. The food was amazing and all things I wouldn’t have thought to try myself, but I’m so glad I did. We will definitely take another tour with Sherri when we come back to Portland!
Thank you for making the Brunch on Mississippi tour part of your visit to Portland. It's always so much fun to share some of my faves and some of Portland's best spots. Thank you for the kind review as well - very much appreciated!
Absolutely spectacular! The food Sherry treated us to was great which we expected. What was unexpected was Sherry’s intimate knowledge of Portland, its history and the stories behind all the food providers we experienced. Perfect morning. Highly recommended to all.
Claudia, it was great fun meeting you and the family and having the 4 of you as part of the tour. I am happy you loved the food and learning more about your own home city!
Sherri took four of us on a fun and very tasty tour of one of Portland’s funky and interesting neighbourhoods. We ate delicious treats, walked around the vibrant Mississippi area, and learned about the history behind what we were seeing. Highly recommended!
Amanda, It was a pleasure getting to spend the morning with you two - sharing brunch and a neighborhood that makes Portland special. Thanks for making the Brunch on Mississippi tour part of your trip to Portland!
