My husband and I had a most enjoyable day touring the Black Forest with Simone. She picked us up at , and returned us to, our hotel in Freiburg. Our six hour tour included visits to an Old Farm House, an amazing meat shop, and an awesome bakery. We toured the fascinating Black Forest Open Air Museum, and saw an incredible display of cuckoo clocks there. We concluded our tour with a hike up the hillside in the charming town of Wolfach, and were rewarded with an ice cream in town. We learned a lot from Simone about the history, geography, and culture of the area - an essential part of the tour. Simone will tailor a tour to your interests, and you are sure to have a wonderful experience.
We spent 10 hours across two days with Simone and it was truly amazing! Touring with a local is the best way to see the Black Forest. The first day we visited the southern Black Forest, seeing St. Peter's church, a charming lakeside village, miniature mill and stopping off for a piece of Black Forest cake! Day 2 we toured the northern Black Forest. We did a short hike into the trees, saw the Triberg waterfall and cuckoo clocks, ate a Black Forest ham lunch near castle ruins, and visited a costume museum. We even had to stop the car for a cow crossing. All the views and sights were top notch, and getting to know Simone was the icing on the (Black Forest) cake!
Simone was a friendly guide with a wealth of knowledge. The trip was extremely interesting with so many wonderful sights to see. The day passed quickly and was really fulfilling
Thanks Louise for taking the time to do a review! I am very happy you enjoyed touring with me!
Simone achieved the impossible: she planned a 2-day tour for my wife and I that appealed perfectly to BOTH of us. We rarely can do that ourselves because we like quite different things. Yet, with Simone, we enjoyed the ideal mix of adventure and cultural immersion. For example, we sped downhill on an alpine coaster, saw the national ski jumping training hill, walked a huge suspension bridge, drank schnapps from a kühlschrank, visited a cuckoo clock store, ate Black Forest cake overlooking a picturesque village, learned history of the region, ate spaghettieis, hiked down a path alongside a spectacular waterfall, popped in to see a small farm chapel, and so much more. Simone was able to show us a real German experience. When we walked with her, she would strike a conversation with locals and include us as if we were old-time friends visiting her. Prior to our trip, we worried that spending two days with someone we didn’t know might be awkward. But Simone was so warm and friendly that it truly felt like we were visiting an old friend. I can’t possibly express how good our experiences were. 100%+++
oh...that's so nice of you! THANK YOU! It really did feel like showing friends around and it was odd saying goodbye. I wish you had stayed longer! I hope to see you again one day - either here or there:)
We had an amazing time in the Black Forest. Simone and her Freiburg tour guide Babel were on time, very knowledgeable and very friendly. We had great conversations and learned a lot about the area. Simone showed us great spots that fit our interests - some we hadn't even heard about. It was definitely worth having a guide who knows the area for driving too, as she was able to find ways around traffic and keep us on schedule, which would have been very stressful if we had rented a car and tried to do it on our own. We went for a brief visit, mainly to see sites related to the cuckoo clock heritage, as that is a personal interest, but it is a lovely place to spend a relaxing vacation with time hiking, bicycling and enjoying the countryside and the excellent food. Going in early May, the weather was absolutely perfect and there were no crowds at any of the attractions. We really enjoyed our time with Simone and have been telling all our friends and family how beautiful it is there!
My wife and I spent a terrific day with Simone, who picked us up in Freiburg and drove us through the Central Black Forest, and then dropped us at our next hotel in Gengenbach at the end. We made a number of stops throughout the day that gave us a real feel for the history of the region, as well as the joys and the challenges that come with living in the Black Forest. She also gave us some good advice concerning the rest of our stay in the area. We really enjoyed our tour. Highly recommend!
Thank you!
Simone shared her love of the Black Forest and her occupation with us on September 1. Prior to our trip Simone asked us to compete a survey itemizing the things we were most interested in and she followed that perfectly, but also went above and beyond in creating a series of "magic moments" in addition. Simone's English is as good as mine and she was enjoyable to be with as well eminently knowledgeable on all things Black Forest. My wife and I agreed our tour with Simone was the highlight of our 14 days in Germany and France an we would love to do it all again.
Oh..thank you! I am very happy to hear that. And yes - I would love you to come back and tour another day with me. There is so much more to see and do here, we can easily fill a week without getting bored!
Simone was amazing. At the beginning of our day, we discusssed what we wanted to do and that is what we did. We learned so much about the local culture and that was our primary desire. We saw farms and cuckoo clocks, a local ski jump, Lake Titisee and the Black Forest. We ate Black Forest Cake and Black Forest Ham and drank Peach Shnapps. We shopped and we walked. She was knowledgeable and personable, took a keen interest in us. She truly exceeded our expectations. Thank you :-)
Thank you!
Perfect day with Simone. A wonderful experience of culture and beauty. I highly recommend Black Forest Tours to anyone wanting to get the most of their stay in the area.
Thank you! I am very happy you enjoyed your tour with me!
We had the most wonderful experience on our Black Forest tour with Simone! From the moment we met her, her warmth and positivity set the tone for a truly special day. She’s incredibly knowledgeable not just about the history and culture of the region, but also about the hidden gems that make the Black Forest so magical. What really stood out was how thoughtful and attentive she was. Simone asked us great questions at the beginning of the tour to learn about our interests, and then seamlessly tailored the experience to match. It never felt scripted; it felt like a custom adventure designed just for us. Her enthusiasm is infectious, and her passion for the area made every stop more meaningful. We learned so much, laughed a lot, and came away with memories we’ll treasure for a long time. If you’re lucky enough to get Simone as your guide, you’re in for an unforgettable day!
