This was a very unique circus experience on a huge scale, and I thought it was very worthwhile. Being American and unable to read Chinese, I appreciated Xaq’s help. He was able to get me an excellent ticket and then arranged transportation with a driver from my hotel, who then waited for me after the show to take me directly home. It was worth it not to have to stress over trying to find a taxi.

On our first night in Guangzhou we organised with Damon to see the Chime-long International Circus. Damon arranged for the driver to pick us up and he messaged us to let us know his whereabouts. The permanent big top is enormous and can seat up to 7,000. Damon arranged VIP seats for us and we were quickly through the turnstiles and in our seats. The circus was close to capacity to see a spectacular show that began with two men either side of the stage being shot out of cannons - I kid you not. What followed was the most amazing and skilful displays of strength and acrobatics and crazy daring we’ve witnessed. Horse riders, high wire flyers, trampolines, divers, motorbike riders, big wheel walkers. Incredible, breathtaking stunts. The stage area was so big you didn’t know where to look: there was action everywhere. We met the driver right outside the venue and headed back to the hotel. A memorable night. Thank you Damon.

The circus itself was spectacular, and having VIP seats made it even more enjoyable – we had fantastic views and felt truly spoiled.
