A very interesting visit, both inside and outside. And as for the tea room, it was a delightful moment: an incredible orange cake enjoyed on the terrace, accompanied by freshly squeezed citrus juice!
Thank you so much for your visit and comments !
Superb castle with many magnificent objects and a beautiful park. I highly recommend it Very welcoming staff
Small but perfectly formed trip. Small chateau but full of interesting stuff. Beautiful grounds and friendly family atmosphere to the place.
This is the second time we visit this castle it is a peaceful and very beautiful place with little attendance. I love this place
Beautiful place steeped in history that today's guide April 15, 2026 made clear to adults and children attentive and curious. Knowing how to recognize educated, respectful children would have allowed the guide to make the visit more enjoyable for visitors.
This is a château that until several years ago was in a state of ruin. When you read how a business man in love with Renaissance architecture in the Loire first heard about it, drove down from Paris two days later, purchased it, then spent years authentically restoring it, you can’t help but be fascinated! This is where the first oranges were grown in France, where the children of Catherine de Medici played in the vast gardens, and where Marie Stuart spent her honeymoon and first years of marriage. It is built into a mountain, has several troglos and a rich history. We hadn’t even heard about it until we saw a sign. It is literally a 15-20 minute walk from Chateau Amboise, A big thank you to EVELYNE, who enthralled us with so many amazing details as we purchased our tickets that we were fascinated even before we stepped inside. It’s a great story and a must see. The introductory room shows all the restoration work, before and after photos, the number of artisans…the original real estate for sale flier stating that ‘serious work’ (des lourds travaux) should be expected! Félicitations M. et Mme. Lelandais!
Dear visitor Such a gem comment ! Thank you so much for your words
We were very impressed with the work on the restoration! We are fans of Maria Stuart and we became so aware of it. Great park. A hidden gem!
Dear visitor Super glad of your comment ! Thank you
This castle has no interest, it is a simple bourgeois house without history with Bling Bling decoration and ordinary... Regarding the Welcoming, I prefer not to comment so much we were badly received!!! Lamentable... like its owner!
Dear visitor Sorry to read this which is not our philosophy at all … Thank you for your visit
It is a pretty little castle, a pretty discovery, on a human scale. We enter with beautiful explanations through the chapel?. It promises for the future. Unfortunately then quite well restored rooms with many objects, but these are very heterogeneous, and especially no explanation a room with portraits of kings and characters, but no legend. The kitchen is filled with objects, I think found in various and varied flea markets, but not always from the same period The small bar is friendly, but the drinks very expensive: example a glass of three juices pressed at 12 €. The cocktail contained no ice. So it was hot... Not very nice The visit of the orangery repeats explanations, completely identical to the small film proposed in the park... It is a shame, we expected more. Entrance is quite expensive, but parking is free. You still have to plan to walk long enough before arriving at the castle. I recommend it anyway.
Dear visitor Thank you for your visit There are in fact three différents videos of the domain story (chapel, archives, M.Stuart) additionally also un each room a QR code with live explainations. All furnitures and paintings are coming from auctions houses and antic shops throughout Europe. Hoping to see again !
If you only have to visit one castle in Amboise, this is it. The tour, free, is fantastic in the gardens from the parking (free). Away from the crowd, the staff takes the time to inform and advise you. The castle is full of surprises (orangery, troglos...) and the visit diversified and informative. Congratulations for the good length video, informative without boredom. Thank you for this renovation and enhancement. A place that I will recommend to my loved ones without wanting to see more frequented Olivier
