Join me to explore the historic center of Sintra, known as the most romantic town in Portugal, and visit the National Palace, its beautiful viewpoints, fountains, and Sintra’s exclusive pastries. Take the opportunity to try the famous “Ginginha”! This is the part of the tour where you’ll have free time to relax and enjoy. If you wish to have lunch, I can recommend the best traditional restaurants. You can also visit the National Palace of Sintra, a palace with over 1,000 years of history.
Two incredible viewpoints at the Enlightenment Palace of Sintra, which is now a hotel offering a classic experience. From here, you’ll see Pena Palace from a unique perspective!
Palace and English Romantic Garden designed by James Knowles, commissioned by Francis Cook. This palace features the most exotic garden in Sintra, designed by William Stockdale. It is said that the Cook and Claflin couple hosted the most stylish parties of their time in Sintra. If you appreciate plants, I invite you to visit this palace. Please contact me to customize your Tour!
Magnificent palace designed by José Luis Monteiro, with interior decoration by several architects including Luigi Manini, featuring a tragic and mysterious history.
Discover Azenhas do Mar, a picturesque seaside village perched on the cliffs of Sintra. With breathtaking ocean views, whitewashed houses, and cascading terraces, it looks like a postcard come to life. Stroll through its charming streets, enjoy the local gastronomy, and capture stunning photos of the Atlantic coastline.
Often compared to a “Disney Palace,” Pena Palace is the first Romantic-style palace in Europe, offering a journey through the five senses! It represents the dream of Ferdinand II, the Artist King and Romanticism pioneer. Enchanted by the Sintra Mountains’ microclimate and granite rocks, he purchased the monastery in 1838 and rebuilt it as a palace, showcasing Hispano-Islamic, Indo-Islamic, and Manueline styles. Important: During the high season, this visit is ALWAYS very crowded! If you want to enjoy the Palace at your own pace, i strongly recommend the Garden and Terraces ticket (12€) witch also allows you to see the old Monastery. If you want to visit the interior please buy your ticket to 4,4.30 or 5 PM. Important:If your group would like to visit Quinta da Regaleira and the interior of Pena Palace, it will not be possible to visit all the listed locations. Please feel free to contact me so I can customize your tour accordingly.
Wall dating back to the 9th century, built by the Moors, offering a 360-degree view over Sintra, Lisbon, Cascais, and Mafra. Visit the Church of São Pedro de Canaferim (free entry), now presented as an interpretation center showcasing elements of the old Islamic neighborhood and artifacts discovered during archaeological excavations between 2009 and 2013, revealing the presence of Neolithic civilization from the 5th millennium BC. Note: If you wish to visit the wall, the tour lasts approximately one hour. Contact me for customize your Tour.
Visit Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of Europe, a protected landscape since 1995. Marvel at its dramatic cliffs, rugged rocks, and breathtaking ocean views. For the Romans who settled in Sintra until the 5th century, this was the edge of the known world, where land ended and only the vast Atlantic began. Enjoy the panoramic vistas, feel the Atlantic breeze, and capture unforgettable photos at this iconic Sintra landmark.
Discover Cascais, the Portuguese “Riviera,” a charming coastal town where noble families began spending their summers from the second half of the 19th century.

Fantastic tour by Sophia. Very knowledgeable tour guide. Loved enthusiasm and historical insight
Our tour with Sofia was fantastic; she is passionate about her job and takes you along for the ride to discover Sintra and all the interesting and beautiful surprises that it delivers. She planned the tour so that we could avoid the crowds and organised lunch at a very secluded peaceful setting. 💯 recommend going on this tour with Sofia, you won't be disappointed.
Thank you so much for your words Dee!! :) I am so glad you enjoyed! Count on me for your nest time in Portugal. All the best for you and Paul:)
Sofia was such a wealth of knowledge. We saw as much of Sintra as we could and also learned so much about the history of the area and of Portugal as a whole. Sofia was very concerned with what we wanted to do and saw to it it happened. She also gave us some time to ourselves, like over lunch (and our lunch spot was also fantastic!). Such a great experience overall.
Hi James, Thank you so much for your words. I am really glad you enjoyed your tour in Sintra:) If you ever come back count on me.
Sofia our tour specialist was beyond just a tour guide. Being born and raised in Sintra, the history and knowledge she shared was incredible! Not only did she make sure we saw all the special monuments and castles on our list she explained their history in detail! She was the Best! Don’t hesitate to book this tour with her she was amazing from start to finish!!
Thank you for your review Tamara, it was a pleasure to be your Guide in Sintra, count on me if you ever wish to come back!:)
Sofia makes you feel comfortable and is personable and flexible - she adjusts the itinerary to your needs, as it is impossible to see it all in one day. In my case, it was Monserrate, Capuchos, Cabo da Roca, and the village by the sea. To me, she is a quintessential Sintran (loves nature, mysticism, talkative) and will give you great advice about local spots.
Hi :) Thank you very much for your review. It was a pleasure to be your Guide. Count on me whenever you need!
Sintra is a very interesting place with much history. We are glad we made the trip. Sofia is a knowledgeable guide and showed us things we wouldn't have seen on our own.
Thank you very much for your kind words and for choosing to explore Sintra with me. I am truly happy to know that you enjoyed the experience, the photos, and the special moments shared throughout the Tour. It was a pleasure to adapt the day to your interests, and I hope to welcome you again in Portugal in the future. Wishing you a wonderful continuation of your trip:)
Sofia was an excellent and knowledgeable guide who went above and beyond to create an individualized and magical experience. We learned so much about the history and also the stories and context behind the facts.
Thank you so much Julie (and Paul) for your words!:) Count on me when ever you need any "tips" or other Tours in Portugal!:) All the best:)
After weeks of researching which of the many tour agencies to go with, we decided on the Sintra tour with Sofia and boy was that one of the best decisions we made during our trip to Portugal for SpringBreak2026. I wanted to avoid the "big box" tour companies and give a local business a chance. Sofia was amazing! She is not just a tour guide. She is a local of Sintra, a historian, an educator, etc.. list goes on. She was able to craft an itinerary for us that maximized the full day we had in Sintra that avoided the crowds at peak times and visiting the little nuances that most people and tours wouldn't even think of visiting. She doesn't only take you to these places but she explains the history about everything you're looking at. If you want to take a nice family picture, have no worries. She'll clear a crowd in seconds for your family to get the perfect memory. Want to cut the long lines at any ticket entrance? Done! It's like she knew the folks at the gate and we were able to cut the lines with our purchased tickets. It was great! After arriving in Lisbon, we hit the ground running the following day with an early start for a day trip to Sintra. We caught the train from Rossio Station in Lisbon to meet up with Sofia and sidekick, Maria as we had another family join us which made exploring everything so much easier. First stop was Pena Palace, where we wandered through the colorful terraces and gardens with some incredible views. From there, we made our way out to Cabo da Roca—the westernmost point of Europe—which felt pretty surreal standing at the edge of it all. We also stopped by the stunning seaside village of Azenhas do Mar, and took a relaxing lunch break at Aldeia da Praia. The afternoon took us to Quinta da Regaleira, which felt like stepping into a real-life fairytale, followed by some time exploring Sintra’s historic center and scenic viewpoints near Seteais Palace. We wrapped up the day in the charming coastal town of Cascais before heading back—completely exhausted but so glad we packed it all in. One of those days where every stop felt different from the last, and definitely a highlight of the trip. Thanks to Sofia and Maria for a special day we will never forget and will gladly reach out to her if we are ever in town. She is always happy to help in any way possible with questions, etc.. she's that type of happy helping person. You will not regret booking a tour with her and everything is flexible in terms of how you want to plan your itinerary with her. She will give you plenty of options depending on what you need to do. Thank you!
Thank you very much for your kind words :) It was truly a pleasure guiding such an engaging and enjoyable group throughout the day!! I’m delighted to hear that you had a positive experience. If you ever return to Portugal, I would be more than happy to welcome you again and show you even more in Sintra , or other regions and wonders that Portugal has to offer. I hope to see you again in the future!:)
Sofia was a wonderful guide, it was very enriching for us to learn about the wonders of Sintra
Fico muito grata com as vossas palavras! :) Contem comigo sempre como vossa Guia e/ou necessitem de "dicas" sobre Portugal! 🙂
Sofia becomes your local guide, driver and photographer in one person so that you do not need to hire three people 😃 . It's recommended to contact her in advance and agree on tour details as she can adjust the tour exactly according to your needs to visit exactly what you want (if you don't know, you can leave it up to her, too). The pickup time in Sintra can be adjusted; it's not a problem at all to get to Sintra by a local cheap train from Lisbon center. Some of them run as frequently as every 10 minutes even in winter. We went on a rainy day and Sofia did her best to make it enjoyable and to make sure we catch everything that was possible as we wanted. She also gave us a lot of information about history and took a lot of pictures of us during the trip. We can only recommend her.
Thank you very much for your kind words it was truly a pleasure guiding you! Remember me if you ever come back or need any "free tips" about Portugal:)
