Balos Lagoon Off-road 4x4 Jeep Safari de Kissamos

We had an excellent experience with the Balos 4x4 Off-Road Tour and would highly recommend it. The instructions for getting to the meeting point were clear and accurate, and there’s a free car park nearby if you’re driving. From the moment we arrived, we received an incredibly warm welcome and were even treated to some delicious local sweets. This is a genuine family-run business, and their kindness and hospitality really stood out. During the drive to Balos, we learned a lot about the local area, and the driver shared great recommendations on the best spots around the lagoon to visit while avoiding the crowds. We had around 3 hours to enjoy Balos Lagoon, not including the 30-minute journey down and the 30-minute return trip (although this will depend on your walking pace). We took our time and never felt rushed. For us, this was by far the best way to visit Balos. The road is extremely rough, and I personally wouldn’t risk taking a rental car on it. This tour removes all the stress and lets you simply enjoy one of Crete’s most beautiful locations. One final tip: wear good walking shoes, as the trek down to the lagoon and back up is very rocky. Also, make sure you take plenty of water for both directions. I can’t stress those two points enough—they’ll make your visit much more enjoyable!

An excellent experience! It was truly the ideal solution for discovering Balos. The jeep trip with a driver is very convenient and allows access to Balos without having to take the boat or drive on the dirt road with a rental car. The biggest advantage is being able to enjoy the magnificent panoramic view during the descent to the beach. The landscape is simply exceptional and it is an experience that one would miss by arriving by boat. The guides are also really lovely! Throughout the trip, they share anecdotes and explanations about the surroundings, the history, and the landscapes, which makes the journey even more pleasant and interesting. I recommend this service without hesitation to anyone who wishes to visit Balos in the best possible way!

Took us up carefully and safely, providing great knowledge on the journey and info about the area and place we were visiting with some handy tips. All drivers/guides were so friendly with all the group and would really recommend you book a trip with them. A great way to see spectacular views and walk to Balos beach - little tricky walk but manageable for all the family. This beats hands down getting a ferry as hoards of people seem to continually get off and would reduce your time there. Book with these, brilliant throughout and made our trip.

Our experience was truly wonderful. We were welcomed at the office with warm smiles and genuine kindness. Everything started exactly on time, without any delays. Our driver was very friendly, funny, and made us feel comfortable from the very beginning. The journey was enjoyable and completely stress-free. During the trip, he shared interesting stories and information about Balos and the surrounding area, which made the excursion even more special. The view from above was absolutely breathtaking. I had never seen anything so beautiful before. We stopped to take photos and then went down to the beach, where we had plenty of time to relax and enjoy the incredible scenery. Looking back, I’m really happy we chose this excursion instead of taking the boat. We would have missed those spectacular views from above, while the boats are usually extremely crowded. In addition, by the time we got off the boat and reached the beach, we would have lost valuable time from our stay there. Instead, with this tour we had much more time to enjoy the area at our own pace, which made a huge difference. I highly recommend this experience. Fantastic day from start to finish. Everything waa flawless and great communication. The pickup point in Kissamos is easy to find and there are free parking lots nearby to park. Helpful tips: bring your sunscreen, hat, your own towels and water. We saw people do the hike in sandals but would recommend proper shoes as it is uneven terrain, rocks and loose dirt. I would not recommend this to anyone with mobility issues. The views from the 1st viewpoint are so impressive. A boat tour won't provide the views and experience that this tour offers. This is the perfect way to get in some exercise and enjoy the beauty of this lagoon. The local goats are adorable and will take food if you offer it. Great tour !

Great views, good experience

An excellent day with a top-notch team. The landscapes are magnificent throughout the Jeep ride, and the colors are magical. Arriving by land at Balos allows for a view from above before descending to the beach.
