Desfrute das paisagens cénicas do Minho, conhecida pelo seu popular Vinho Verde, e visite duas das cidades históricas da região, Guimarães e Braga, para descobrir o seu património arquitetónico. A primeira parada desta excursão de dia inteiro é Guimarães, o berço de Portugal. O centro da cidade é Património Mundial da UNESCO desde 2001. Maravilhe-se com o Castelo de Guimarães, datado do século X, onde aprenderá sobre o período inicial da história de Portugal. Admire o Palácio dos Duques de Bragança e a arquitetura desta cidade medieval, repleta de edifícios, ruas e praças únicas. Continue até Braga, cidade outrora ocupada pelos romanos e um dos mais importantes centros cristãos de Portugal. Faça uma pausa para saborear um almoço tradicional com Vinho Verde. Depois continue a conhecer a história de Braga e visite os seus marcos mais importantes como a Sé Catedral do século XI, o Bom Jesus do Monte e o Santuário do Sameiro. Você chegará de volta ao Porto perto das 17h.

Itinerário
Ao chegar a Guimarães, iniciamos o nosso passeio pela zona alta da cidade, onde se encontra o Castelo de Guimarães. O nosso guia irá contar-lhe sobre o início da história de Portugal ao passar pelo castelo medieval mais antigo de Portugal e começar a descida ao centro da cidade.
Esta igreja data do século XIII e está atualmente classificada como monumento nacional. É um edifício de estilo românico, que foi reconstruído no início do século XX de acordo com o seu aspecto original. A esta igreja existe uma lenda, segundo a qual aqui foi baptizado o primeiro rei de Portugal, D. Afonso Henriques.
Este palácio data do início do século XV e a sua construção foi mandada construir por D. Afonso (filho do rei D. João I) aquando do seu casamento com D. Constança de Noronha. Ao longo dos anos serviu a diversos propósitos, causando desgaste. No início do século XX iniciou-se a restauração do palácio. Está classificado como monumento nacional e atualmente funciona como museu, expondo obras de tapeçaria, mobiliário, porcelana chinesa e pinturas.
Ao longo da descida para a zona residencial da cidade, passaremos pela Rua de Santa Maria, uma das primeiras ruas de Guimarães, que serviu de principal ligação entre o convento de D. Mumadona Dias, a zona residencial e o Castelo.
Esta é uma praça de convívio dos vimaranenses, onde poderá encontrar restaurantes, bares e esplanadas, rodeados pela arquitectura típica da cidade. Segundo a lenda, o nome da praça deve-se ao apóstolo Tiago que, em peregrinação, aqui deixou uma imagem da Virgem Maria. Ali foi construída uma igreja no século XII, que foi demolida no século XIX.
O Largo da Oliveira é uma das praças mais emblemáticas e históricas de Guimarães, Portugal. O seu nome vem de uma oliveira milenar que simboliza paz e tradição. Este local tem sido palco de acontecimentos significativos ao longo dos séculos, incluindo cortes medievais e momentos cruciais na formação de Portugal como nação.
Além da igreja, o Largo da Oliveira é conhecido pelo Padrão do Salado, monumento que celebra a vitória de D. Afonso IV sobre os mouros na batalha do Salado em 1340.
Do Largo da Oliveira avista-se a igreja de Nossa Senhora da Oliveira - Colegiada de Guimarães, cujas origens remontam a um mosteiro fundado na primeira metade do século X pela Condessa Mumadona Dias. A atual igreja foi construída em 1387 por ordem do rei D. João I, seguindo modelos de arquitetura gótica.
A Sé de Braga é um dos monumentos mais emblemáticos e históricos de Portugal. Situada na cidade de Braga, esta catedral católica é um testemunho da riqueza cultural e religiosa do país. A sua construção remonta a finais do século XI, tendo sido sagrada e dedicada à Virgem Maria pelo Bispo D. Pedro em 10891. A Sé de Braga é considerada a primeira catedral portuguesa, construída várias décadas antes da fundação da própria nação.
O Santuário do Bom Jesus do Monte é uma joia da arquitetura religiosa e paisagística, localizado em Braga. Com mais de 600 anos de história, este local de peregrinação cristã é um exemplo notável do Sacri Monti europeu, criado após o Concílio de Trento no século XVI. A Via Sacra do santuário, que serpenteia pela encosta da montanha, é composta por capelas, fontes e esculturas representativas da Paixão de Cristo, culminando na igreja neoclássica construída entre 1784 e 1811. A Escadaria dos Cinco Sentidos, obra barroca, é uma obra dos elementos mais emblemáticos do conjunto, simbolizando os sentidos humanos através de fontes e estátuas. O Bom Jesus do Monte foi reconhecido como Património Mundial pela UNESCO em 2019, destacando-se pela sua integração harmoniosa com a paisagem natural e pela sua importância cultural e espiritual. O santuário oferece vistas panorâmicas de Braga e é um testemunho da tradição religiosa e da influência da Igreja Católica na região.

The stop and sites were beautiful. Rick was a wonderful guide and explained the history of each stop. Small group was perfect. I don’t think it would be as enjoyable tour if it was a large group.

Our guide was Diana; although we had booked the tour in English, since we were all Spanish speakers, she made the effort to do it in Spanish. Everything she told us was very interesting, the history, the legends/traditions 😜 Very kind, she drove the van herself, and by the way, she drives very well, very carefully; she would drop us off at one point to take a tour and pick us up at another point, so we didn't have to walk back. The tour is 100% recommended and Diana is a fantastic guide. Thank you Diana

I sign up for English Braga and Guimares Medieval Tour. We got mix with a Portuguese couple not by choice which became a big problem. Diana our tour guide because they speak same Portuguese language our tour became a disaster. She spends most time with them, elaborate more on Portuguese than English.Diana became and serve as their private tour guide than the group tour guide. I was very disappointed with this tour. This tour should have been worth it but became not our moneys worth. It's a waste of our time

Very extensive tour to Braga and Guimarães! We had a very friendly guide, Ricardo Aliveira, who told us and showed us all sorts of things about the cities. There was also plenty of free time. Ricardo picked us up at the agreed meeting points every time.

Ivo was a very personable and knowledgeable tour guide. Our tour occurred when the area was experiencing an extreme heat wave and we were traveling with an elderly family member. Ivo was able to adapt our tour to ensure my Mom got an excellent experience despite not being able to walk for long periods of time in the extreme heat. The tour itself was fantastic, with many sites being firsts for us and Ivo explained the history of the sites while also providing insight into the local culture. Great experience. Diana is very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information on local history and culture. She always made sure to answer all our questions.
