This cooking class was so much fun! My boyfriend and I were sailing on MSC and decided to book our excursion outside of the cruise line to save some money. We saw this cooking class and decided it would be fun to give it a go. We got a taxi and went about 10 minutes away from the port to a strip of shops and restaurants. Even though we left the port we still felt extremely safe. When we entered, the staff at Cafe Jaguar were happy and greeting us with smiles. They offered us waters and gave us an apron we could keep! They gave us a little history about the town of Mahahual and the dishes we prepared. All of the ingredients were fresh, clean, and delicious. At the end they gave us some spices to keep and the recipe to make it at home! This cooking class was so much fun and truly felt like we got to learn a little bit about the history of the town while doing.
Super wonderful experience!!! The hostess Coleen and the cook Perle- are so so hospitable. They made a special vegetarian menu for us - the produce was local and so fresh and the food was DELICIOUS. Lit right off a breezy beach the location could not be better . The vendors nearby also had super good prices compared to cruise prices. Cafe Jaguar was hands down one of the best the highlights of our trip !
This cooking class saved our whole day at Costa Maya. My wife and I had a great experience conversing with everyone involved, eating delicious food, and becoming more experienced cooks. This little cantina was a safe spot with a more relaxed pace than the outside street, however, you can easily step outside if you’re feeling adventurous. I will definitely come back if I return to Costa Maya.
This was a very fun experience. We all had a great time and the food was amazing that we cooked. Very friendly staff
The workers were very welcoming. We arrived early so they gave us water bottles to take with us while we walked the boardwalk. Just my husband and I were signed up so it ended up being a private experience. The teacher took time to explain everything including how we could adjust the recipe to replicate at home. The food was delicious, and they make accommodations for dietary restrictions. Definitely a 10/10 experience.
Everyone was so accommodating, starting with cold bottled water when we arrived and lots of cool fans (which were much appreciated). Chantel was the perfect teacher. She gave background on the foods we were preparing, and made us appreciate the "why" behind the recipes. She gave super descriptive, easy to follow directions, and turned us all into chefs. Between the pico de gallo, guacamole, tortillas and tacos al pastor, we were so full of delicious food we couldn't finish it all. We are excited to try the recipes at home, and appreciate that they gave us written recipes to make that easy. My husband and I both agree that this was a highlight of our vacation. We highly recommend it!
Excellent ingredients prepped for class, great instructions, ample amount of food. Personable staff, great location. Appreciated complimentary apron. Highly recommend
This was one of the highlights from our cruise! It was an easy cab ride from the port. When we arrived, we were hot and were immediately given a bottle of water and access to Wi-Fi while we waited for the class to start. We thoroughly enjoyed learning to make Tacos Al Pastor, pico de gallo, guacamole, and homemade tortillas. Highly recommend going to Café Jaguar if you are ever in Costa Maya!
Very friendly staff, the food we prepared was delicious. It was a very chill experience and we got a $20 massage just across the way. It was a rainy day so perfect way to spend some time in port.
Fantastic experience! The class was led with passion for Mexican culture and cooking.
