We had a wonderful experience for our first time surfing! All three of us got up several times on the board! So much fun! Instructor was fantastic!

For our two daughters, it was a big first: their first steps on a surfboard in Waikiki. We chose Hans Hedemann Surf School and we have no regrets. A big thank you to NICO, their instructor, who was very nice, patient, and a great teacher. His instructions were clear and constructive, always in a good mood. Thanks to his valuable advice, our daughters quickly managed to stand up on their boards and catch their first waves. A superb experience, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and great memories. We highly recommend this school and especially NICO for a first surfing experience in Waikiki!

We had a fantastic time with Hans Hedemann Surf! What stood out most was how seriously they take safety and professionalism — you can tell the instructors are well-trained and genuinely care about their students. My friend and I booked a semi-private lesson, and our instructor Peter was excellent — patient, calm, and full of helpful tips for beginners. He made us feel comfortable in the water while still pushing us to improve. Highly recommend this school if you’re thinking about trying surfing in Waikiki! The rashguard and reef shoes were included, which was a nice touch. We also got the photo package, and the shots turned out beautifully — great value and a wonderful way to remember the lesson. Will definitely come back next time we’re in Oahu. Mahalo, Hans Hedemann Surf team!

If you are a first time surfer or want to learn surfing fundamentals, then this is the best place to do just that! Professional and knowledgeable staff. Excellent with kids too!

We had a phenomenal experience with Niko. He was great and gave us lots great tips and tricks to do as brand new people to surf boarding. He is a great instructor. If you the option ask for Niko when you book your private or semi private lessons.

is experience has been incredible! I love water sports but live in Colorado where surfing is not a thing. So on our trip this year, after my 48th time around the sun I got to surf for the first time! Niko was the best instructor, I made it up on the first try, my family loved it so much we did 3 more days of semi private lessons. This has sparked a new love! Thanks Niko and thanks to the incredible staff for making this experience amazing!

We had such an amazing experience and would absolutely recommend this surf school to anyone wanting to learn to surf! Our kids (ages 13 and 16) were paired with Willie, and he was fantastic. He was encouraging, motivating, and gave great feedback throughout the lesson. He made learning fun while still helping them improve with each wave. We especially appreciated him helping my daughter get out to the waves when paddling became difficult. That extra support made all the difference and gave her the confidence to keep going. My husband and I had Pete, and I couldn't have asked for a better instructor. I was extremely anxious going into the lesson, but Pete was so patient, calm, and encouraging. I especially appreciated how he talked about the connection between your mind and body, which really helped me relax and trust myself. His coaching made me feel capable instead of intimidated. By the end of the lesson, every one of us was able to get up and ride multiple waves. It was such a fun, memorable experience for our whole family, and definitely one of the highlights of our trip. We would 100% recommend this team to anyone looking to learn to surf!

5⭐️ I can’t say enough about the gang at Hans Hedemann Surf School Waikiki! Our family of 6 ( kids ages 11,13,15, and 17) from the Midwest had never been surfing before. These guys were so good at providing instructions, keeping everyone safe, and most importantly making it fun! The kids had an absolutely blast. This was after two weren’t overly confident going into it! We opted to have them take photos during our session and man did they not disappoint! I can’t say enough good things about Peter, Willie, and Kiva. Would 💯recommend these guys and the surf school to anyone who is considering it! - Matt

We had the best experience with Hans Hedemann surf school. My son and his best friend took semi private lessons with Gavin. They had the best experience and as beginners were catching waves. We were so impressed that we booked a lesson with him for my girls while we all rented boards.
