We booked this excursion during our cruise stop in Cozumel. Overall, we had some great moments, but the tour felt a bit underwhelming based on how it was described. The Pros: The Cenote: The Jade Cavern stop was absolutely the best part of the day. The 10-foot ledge jump into the water was a blast, and we got some incredible photos here. The Staff & Guide: Our guide, Miguel, was phenomenal. He was extremely kind, deeply knowledgeable, and handled all the driving to and from the cruise port safely. The local people at the base camp were incredibly welcoming. Kid-Friendly Driving: It was a massive hit for our 11-year-old, who loved getting the chance to drive an ATV. The Cons / Things to Know: Not Really a "Jungle": The description implies a lush jungle trek, but it was actually just driving down crushed limestone roads filled with massive potholes. I wish the actual riding portions had been longer and more immersive. Very Rustic Base Camp: The ATV pickup spot is a small concrete house in a local community. The facilities are very rustic—think campground-style bathrooms. Lackluster Stops After the Cenote: After the cavern, the energy dipped. The tequila tour/tasting felt standard and generic (the kids just got a Squirt soda). The stop at the town church felt a bit forced; we just walked around looking at local vendors (though buying a $5 fresh coconut felt like a nice way to support a local lady). The Photo Trap: A photographer followed us on another ATV to take "professional" photos. They turned out to be just iPhone photos shared via a Google Drive link, and we felt heavily overcharged for the quality. Final Verdict: I would not recommend this for families with very young kids. If you go, expect a rustic, bumpy road ride with a fantastic swim at the beginning, but be prepared for a slow second half of the tour. Huge thanks to Miguel for his hospitality!
Be sure to note that the actual price per person is $20 more than listed on the excursion price because they charge an extra amount when you arrive. This is noted in the inclusions, just be prepared to pay cash. Also part of the excursion not listed was a tequila tasting, which really didn’t appeal to us at all.
It was a good value. Drove the ATV’s through the small village and down dirt roads to the caves where, if you wished, could jump into the water. Our guide, Gabriel, was great
We had a great time during our ride and tour. Our guide was friendly and helpful. You do have to pay an admission fee for El Cedral. We also struggled to find our tour guide but that was our only compliant.
Gabrielle was the Angel who guided us during our tour. I had never been on one but he was patient in explaining and made sure we were safe. The tequila tasting was wonderful! He is knowledgeable about the tour stop at the caverns! Excellent experience! Would highly recommend if a newbie to riding ATV!☺️
Excellent trip with Gabriel!
Our guide Gabriel was really helpful and informative. The Tequila presentation was a little longer than we expected but the host was funny. We would have like to be able to ride a bit more . They picked us up on time and dropped us off on time so it was not stressful.
Great time, guide was very knowledgeable about local culture and myan history. Recommended........ .
Tour operator is among the best In the business. Bikes were on excellent condition. And everyone had a great time.
This was great for families. Everyone had a blast and Gabriel was the best tour guide. We felt safe the entire time but there was tons of adventure.
