Death trap. Avoid if you like your overall health. Went on 4/8 for a UTV ride with my son. Huge red flags. First, tires on all 4 vehicles I saw were nearly or completely bald. They were better suited for drag strip slicks than for off roading through a mountain side. In addition to the lack of tread, there was significant dry rot. In fact, one tire had a crack through 2/3’s of the side wall. Shocks/springs on at least one vehicle was completely rusted. To add on to the ridiculous of this place, their contract reads: “I agree to an immediate charge of no less than … $900 for irreparable tire damage . . . .” So their plan is to wait for someone to pop unroadworthy tires then charge $900 to repair it. Notably, the operator (1) insisted I not keep their contract (demanded I physically tear it up and not take it with me before I left) ; and (2) blocked me from taking pictures of their unroadworthy vehicles. None of the vehicles I saw had tires that were road worthy. Their online pictures must be from many years ago. Again — if you like your safety — do Not go here. My resort apologized profusely for recommending this place, refunded my cost for transportation, and will not recommend any other guests go to what I consider is a death trap/scam. In short — Avoid at all costs.
Hello, Thank you for taking time to coin this review. We need to begin our response by stating that we take guest safety seriously, which is exactly why we are responding clearly and publicly to your review. For the record, you were not refused service because of a safety concern on our side. You were refused participation because you declined to sign our standard liability waiver, which is required of every driver and passenger without exception. Our policy is simple: any guest may refuse to sign, but refusal to sign means refusal of admission. That rule applies equally to everyone. Your review leaves out several important facts. During check-in, after learning that you would not be participating unless you signed the same waiver every other guest signs, your conduct toward our staff became abusive and inflammatory in front of other guests, including children. According to our contemporaneous account, you made discriminatory remarks toward team members, refused repeated instructions to leave private areas of the property, refused to return our waiver form when asked, and continued photographing private operational areas after being told you were no longer an admitted participant. Because of that behavior, you were asked to leave the property and warned that you could be trespassed if the disruption continued. That sequence matters, because your review presents you as a concerned participant who inspected our vehicles in good faith, when in reality you were a refused non-participant who remained on private property after admission was denied. Your post also makes several allegations that are extremely serious, including calling our company a “death trap” and a “scam.” Those are not casual words. They are damaging accusations. If posted falsely or recklessly, they can expose the writer to liability. We stand by our right to protect our business, staff, and reputation from defamatory statements. We also want readers to have the full picture. 268 Buggies’ public review profile remains strong across major travel platforms. Our operator listing sits at roughly 4.5/5 on Tripadvisor, Google is about 4.4/5, and related Tripadvisor / Viator product feeds are in the 4.3–4.4/5 range, with a clear majority of reviews being 5-star. Recent guests have publicly described experiences that directly contradict your account: On 8 April 2026, another Tripadvisor reviewer wrote “Amazing Time!” and praised the instruction process and the excursion itself. In March 2026, one guest wrote “Perfect day in Antigua!” and described the operators as “very professional and friendly.” In January 2026, another reviewer said “The buggies were in great condition” and described the countryside route positively. Another recent guest wrote “10/10 Highly Recommend!” and praised both the equipment and the professionalism of the guides. Those reviews are not isolated. They reflect the broader pattern of real guest experience with us. We also maintain longstanding working relationships with resorts, travel partners, and returning guests who know our operation firsthand. Our tours are intentionally rugged, muddy, and authentic. That is the product. We are not a polished showroom attraction; we are a real off-road adventure company operating in Antigua’s salt, dust, rain, and rough terrain. Guests who participate generally understand that and have a great time. Finally, the most important fact of all: despite your conduct, the other guests who were present, including families with children, continued on the excursion and had a great experience. They did not experience the extreme safety narrative you describe. We welcome honest reviews. We do not welcome false and damaging ones. If Tripadvisor or any other platform requests documentation, we are prepared to provide our records and witness accounts regarding the events of that day. 268 Buggies / Saltydogs Adventures
I really had such an amazing time! The driver they sent me to pick me up from my hotel was such a nice guy (Denton)! Once I arrived at the excursion the nice gentleman provided you with an instructional audio recording, and provided a ski mask, goggles and helmet. He sanitized the goggles for me but I also had an option of paying the extra $15 for a new pair. The ski mask was an additional cost as well but the actually excursion was amazing! The views were breathtaking! You better hold on to the wheel lol and whatever you do follow the instructions of the tour guide!
They are amazing. From pick up to the adventure and drop off. Would highly recommend this adventure.
We had a great time after we got going. There were a few technical issues with some of the ATVs, but overall it was a great experience. The guy even told us where to have lunch, which was really, really good. We loved Antigua.
If you are visiting Antigua and looking for an unforgettable adventure, the Salty Dog dune buggy experience is an absolute MUST! My husband and I had the most incredible time exploring the island in our buggy — from breathtaking coastal views to off-the-beaten-path trails that let us truly experience the beauty of Antigua. It was the perfect combination of thrill, scenery, and authentic island charm. But what truly made the experience exceptional was our tour guide, JUSTYN. He was outstanding — knowledgeable, professional, patient, and genuinely passionate about what he does. He made sure we were comfortable and safe the entire time, while also sharing fascinating history and local insights about the island. His energy was fun, engaging, and reassuring all at once. We laughed, we learned, we got a little dusty, and we made memories we’ll never forget. If you’re considering this excursion, don’t hesitate — and if you can request JUSTYN (with a y) as your guide, do it. He made an amazing experience truly extraordinary. 10/10 — highly recommend!
Great experience! Justyn taught me so much about Antigua & answered every question I had. Everything was clean, staff was friendly, Beautiful beach experience, and they had the cutest bathroom ever!! Even Provided water to clean off and snacks at the end of the experience. Went for my birthday with 5 people and we had a great experience. 1000/10 will recommend and we came over from Philadelphia!!
We had fun and that’s what it’s all about. This gives a different perspective as you see the sights off road. See the sights and meet the local farm animals as you sling a little mud on the trails. Really like that they will setup transportation from the hotel as this is easier than trying to get hotel taxi to take you. Yes there is a charge but they make this known up front and you pay for extra transport when doing the paperwork for the buggy. Denton was our taxi driver and he was great. Our buggy did breakdown shortly after we started but they handled it and got us running again and back with the group. If your expectation is a new machine perfectly maintained and ready to race then you should pass but if you want to have fun on an island machine and do something different it is worth it. Wife can’t wait to go back and she’ll drive.
We loved this tour! Highly recommend! They offer round trip transportation for $15/person which was definitely worth it. You will need eyewear and a bandana or neck gator as it gets dusty/muddy out on the trails. Be prepared to get muddy! We had an absolute blast and enjoyed the beautiful views along the ride.
Amazing experience with Justin being our guide. Great views and even a quick stop at the beach Taxi service was good as well for a seamless pick up and drop off from port. Highly recommended fun
Fantastic time and so much fun. Highly recommended! It will be dusty, so be sure to wear face protection, and don't forget sunscreen.
