Honestly, I don’t like to do bad reviews but not in this case. Firstly, no sings of the bus stops at all, no possible to find where should I get on, secondly, no information how many stops, where the stops are, only you can get a map or booklet at the kiosk. What I would recommend, don’t waste your time and money. Sorry for that but it our worst experience with Hop-on Hop-off.
The Big Red bus was not running due to blocked off road, so didn’t experience it and were told no refunds available
The pickups were not indicated, therefore we didn’t know where to hop on the bus. The hop on should be indicated somewhere so that travellers know where they are.
Bus trip was too long. We stopped for 15-20 minutes at Gassan (that wasn’t named in the schedule. So we wasted 15 minutes. Half of the earplugs didn’t work and it just needed more personality instead of at prerecorded factual talk. Boat trip was good that’s why there are 3 stars.
The canal hop on hop off is definitely more relaxed than the hop on hop off bus. We were able to get on and off easily and lots of time to explore
Dear Sergio, Thank you for your kind review. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed both the hop-on hop-off bus and canal boat, and that you found the boat ride especially relaxing. It is a wonderful way to discover Amsterdam from a different perspective. Thank you for choosing our tour, and we hope to welcome you back again. Kind regards
A mediocre tour of the mostly commercial area of City. The audio cut out and then repeated often out of sync with actual positions.
It was a complete nightmare! Ive used this company in other city's and its no problem but turns out amsterdam doesn't allow the company to put signs up for bus stops, so give you a map with little instructions to where the stops are. We waiting in different spots and spent hours with no luck. Thankfully the boat was an easier find and a good experience. Overall a lot of stress and ended up walking everywhere looking for stops, dont waste your time. Also Viator wont help with refunds or part refunds for an awful experience
Blanca Madrid and Blanca bruge were both outstanding. Information was entertaining and welcome. Walking portion was moderate effort as parking was a mile from city center and roads were cobble stone and uneven as expected. The city was crowded with tourist. The bikes and carriages ride fast through town so be cautious when crossing roads. The food was good although the recommended beef stew was not good. It is dried out beef in a thick broth without any vegetables. Very disappointing. The freshly made waffles and chocolates were amazing. The driver was excellent too and 3 hour bus ride was very comfortable. We highly recommend the tour.
We booked the hop-on/hop-off bus in Amsterdam while coming in from the port, and I’ll be honest—the starting location was not very clear at first. After some searching, we finally figured it out: leave the port, walk through the terminal and outside, turn right, and walk about five minutes. You’ll eventually see the setup. Once we found it, we waited about 20 minutes before getting started. The bus does make several stops and takes you more around the outskirts. We got off at the first stop, which I believe was near the diamond tour, and decided to walk around and sightsee since it was a beautiful day. Here’s the part that surprised us: after walking for a bit, my sister checked the map and realized we were not far from the port at all—literally about a 20-minute walk. We ended up seeing shops, the city center area, and so much more just by walking. It turned out to be fantastic. My honest advice: if you’re able to walk, you may want to skip the hop-on/hop-off and explore on your own. You won’t have to wait around for the bus to come back, and you’ll still see plenty. It seemed like there may have only been two buses making the loop, so timing can be a little slow. One thing I really appreciated was that the bus was wheelchair accessible. A gentleman traveling with his family used the lift, and the staff were very kind and patient while getting him situated. That was very nice to see. Overall, it was a decent option, especially for accessibility, but if walking is comfortable for you, Amsterdam is absolutely worth exploring by foot.
