I silent bus ride around a very small village. Tv screens that were not working. Save the hop on buses for large cities
Route map online was inaccurate. The bus didn't arrive at any of the stops we were near. There were no street signs for the stops. We ended up walking instead. Now having difficulty getting a refund. I'd skip this option and opt for a different tour.
Hello Ronald, First of all, we are sorry for the inconvenience you experienced on the day of the tour and that you waited for two hours without the bus arriving. After reviewing what happened, we found that you had been able to book the tour on a date when it was not supposed to operate. We take responsibility for this internal error in our system. Following our review of the case, we have issued a full refund for your booking. We sincerely apologise again for the inconvenience and frustration this caused.
Viator overcharge for tickets by over $20 each. 4 tickets Only 1 bus No headphones. A tv that didn’t work
Dear Maureen, thank you for your feedback and we are sorry the hop-on-hop-off service disappointed you. The onboard TV should have been working and we apologize that the audio experience was not what you expected — we have flagged this to the operating team so it is fixed. Regarding the ticket price, the rate shown on the booking platform includes the platform's fees, which we as the local supplier unfortunately do not control, but we understand the frustration when the onboard price looks lower. We appreciate you taking the time to share this and hope you still enjoyed Akureyri's stops along the route.
Bus starts from harbour first bus at 9am. It has 10 stops first one being a shopping mall which opens at 10 am. There is a stop for the local thermal outdoor swimming pool which is open to the public. The best stop for us was the botanical gardens and easy walk around the beautiful trees shrubs and flowers. It is open 9 til 8 pm and is free entry. There is a small coffee shop and facilities. At the stop for the city shopping there is a cat cafe. There are motorbike and aircraft museums around the route. Whole route is 45 minutes busses every hour.
Thank you, David, for this lovely and detailed review — it will genuinely help other travellers plan their day in Akureyri. The botanical gardens are a favourite of ours too. We're delighted you enjoyed the route!
From redeeming the voucher (ticket kiosk had such a long difficulty that we missed the hourly departure to the infrequent loop to the uncommunicative driver (couldn't tell where most of the stops were, he just blew through), to the out of synch, repetitive videos, this was a waste of money. We finally just got off and walked. If we'd waited for the bus, we'd have been waiting for a long time in the wind and rain. The bus also stalled continually at most stoplights.
Dear Jerin, thank you for this feedback, and we are sorry the day did not go smoothly. The ticket-kiosk difficulty was clearly frustrating — especially with an hourly loop, where missing one departure means a real wait — and we apologize for the time you lost. The route is operated by a single bus on a published hourly schedule, but that only works if boarding is quick and stop announcements are clear, so your comments about the redemption process, the stop announcements and the onboard video have been passed directly to the operating team to fix. We are sorry the service fell short of what you expected, and we thank you for taking the time to point out exactly where.
Pleasant for exploring a town. Convenient for people with disabilities. Get on and off wherever you want.
Vielen Dank, Bernhard!
Too expensive, not worth the money. Bus travelled mainly on outskirts of small town. No earphones, only a pre-recorded commentary which was very low in volume so difficult ultimately to hear
Dear Carol, thank you for your honest feedback. We are sorry the route and the onboard commentary did not live up to your expectations — the audio should be clearly audible, and we have raised the volume issue and the earphone question with the operating team. The route is designed to link the harbour with Akureyri's main sights, including the botanical gardens, the thermal pool and the museums, but we understand it did not feel like good value for you that day, and we take that seriously. We appreciate you letting us know.
Vastly over priced £36 per adult! It's a 30 minute drive around mostly industrial area. There's only 1 bus doing this route. The driver was stressed he told numerous people that. No earphones, but I doubt there was any commentary anyway. Don't waste your money.
Dear traveller, thank you for your feedback, and we are sorry the experience disappointed you. To help future visitors set expectations: the service is a hop-on-hop-off day ticket rather than a single guided ride — one bus circulates an hourly loop connecting the harbour with ten stops including the botanical gardens, the thermal swimming pool and the town centre, and the ticket is valid all day. The price booked online includes the booking platform's fees, which is why it can differ from the price paid on board. Your comments about the driver and the audio have been shared with the operating team — that side of the day should have felt calmer and better presented, and we apologize that it did not.
I paid £85 for 2 adults for a 35 bus ride. I only found out the price when I checked my card transactions. I didn’t see any prices displayed.
Dear traveller, thank you for your feedback — we are sorry the price came as an unwelcome surprise. To reassure other visitors: when the ticket is booked online, the full price is always displayed at checkout before payment is taken, and it covers a full-day hop-on-hop-off ticket on the hourly loop, not a single ride — you are welcome to get on and off at all ten stops for the whole day. Prices booked through the platform also include the platform's booking fees, which is why they can differ from the on-board rate. We are sorry the value did not feel right for your visit, and we have passed your comments on to the team as we review how the ticket options are presented.
The bus route is good but the driver waited 25 extra minutes at the bus stop to sell tickets and therefore ran behind schedule for everyone. We only did the route once and ended up walking as the schedule was not consistent. The driver was nice enough but you really need to,stay on a schedule for a system like this
Dear Janet, thank you for the balanced feedback — we are glad the route itself worked for you, and you make a fair point about the schedule. Ticket sales at the stop should not hold the loop hostage, and we have discussed exactly this with the operating team so boarding keeps the published timetable. We appreciate you taking the time to share it.
