Tarde Kata Tjuta Small Group Tour

A great afternoon exploring Kata Tjuta. Our guide was knowledgeable and informative. A relatively easy walk to the lookout with amazing scenery. Highly recommend.

Michael and Rachel were awesome guides. Very knowledgeable, polite, entertaining and oh, so helpful on the slippery rocks. Rain hit us a little, causing that, but gorgeous sight whose meaning can be understood.

This was a perfect tour to get to view the other oustanding rock formations in the red centre, aka Kata Tjuta. We were picked up from our hotel at 1.30pm by our guide, Ali from Milan, who then proceeded to give us heaps of information on our way to Kata Tjuta. The drive is approximately 40 minutes and she covered a lot of stories as we edged closer to the impressive rocks. The walk is through the Walpa Gorge which we were told would be a round trip of 2.6km. This walk is very rocky and uneven and you need to be watching the ground all of the time. I would suggest that this excursion is not suitable for young children or those who are unsteady on their feet. I should also mention that the files here are much worse than at Uluru and a fly net is definitely recommended. As you get further into the Walpa Gorge you feel dwarfed by the immense size of Kata Tjuta which is appreciably taller than Uluru. Once you get to the end of the walk there is a viewing platform with information on fauna and animals plus our guide also provided further information. The way back felt a lot quicker and overall we covered the whole walk in a bit under 2 hours. We then returned to the bus and got driven back to our hotels. Perhaps this trip felt a little on the expensive side compared to others, due to the shorter duration, but the experience was great, Ali was informative and we were pleased to do this tour in a small group. Definitely worth considering.

Thanks to our drivers/tour guides Mei Mei and Peter, we had an excellent short tour of Walpa Gorge and the Domes. At this time of day, the Domes radiate heat so care is needed just in walking/hiking up the Grade 3 incline on solid rock and stones. The path leads to a viewing platform, an excellent photo stop before retracing steps down the incline and back to the bus. Peter was carrying a plastic spray bottle of water, misting all of us at regular intervals to keep everyone hydrated on the outside, and reminding us to take small sips of water regularly too - sound ideas! Just a thought - if it has been raining recently and the trail is wet, perhaps consider postponing this little tour to another day if you can possibly manage it. The incline is grade 3, the trail is rock and could be really slippery underfoot.

Super hot afternoon and Mimi and Andrea did their best to keep us cool. Stopped the hike a bit early and went to a fabulous overlook. Well worth learning the history!!
