We had a magnificent canoe tour. We saw monkeys, caimans, herons, iguanas, local vultures… and an innumerable series of animals. The activity leaves from the main pier and a group of about 10 people goes in a rowboat -if everyone rows a little, it's better. You skirt the river along the right bank on a round trip and you see the different species of animals. Some, because they are always in the same place, others, because the guides pass information to each other, and others, because of the guide's skill in finding animals - and Antonio had it. Also, you can tell that he knows a lot about the native flora and fauna and that he loves it!! In addition, they helped us with other activities and remained attentive and flexible to unforeseen events - they're stars! I would recommend the experience with this agency a thousand times over to anyone who asked me!
Antonio is Tortuguero. The best guide in the area, attentive, friendly, and always willing to help you throughout your stay in the area. He came to pick us up at La Pavona and took us on the kayak tour along the river. He knew how to spot many animals and the excursion was very enjoyable with his comments and explanations. 100% recommended.
We booked this directly with Antonio after the amazing turtle nesting experience. This was another incredible experience where we saw lots of different animals - Antonio seemed to be able to spot things such as a caimen, lots of birds, basilisks, a sloth. Another amazing element to the trip was going right into the middle of the jungle through a narrow, side stream where you are surrounded by trees and vines giving a truly unique perspective of this beautiful place.
We booked this trip via Antonio directly after having experienced an exceptional turtle nesting experience. This was also a fantastic experience. Antonio seemed very knowledgable and we saw countless animals including basilisk, caimen, white faced monkeys, sloth and lots of different birds. Our boat also went right in to the heart of the jungle off the main river through a secluded side stream, only accessible in small canoe or kayak. What an experience having to push past jungle vines - a truly authentic experience.
We had great time with Antonio guidance. His ability to find the wild animals and his knowledge to explain what we are seeing is amazing. and not less important - he is doing all with a smile recommending with all my heart
The electric canoe or rowing tour is essential in Tortuguero to sink into the forest through the canals. Departure around 6am at the foot of the hotel with an English and Spanish speaking guide. About 3h30 of adventure in search of animals: sloth, caiman, tree iguanas, monkeys, and birds onoré from Mexico, toucan, macaw, savacou, jacana, herons, anhinga... We went through Tuanis Tour for 55 dollars for two. The guide was very interesting.
A fantastic boat ride with Antonio! We got to see a lot of wildlife and he is very knowledgeable and friendly!
Very interesting boat trip! We have seen many animals! Binoculars are a must! The rain surprised us towards the end, but this did not harm the experience. Antonio is a very dedicated guide!
We saw lots of birds, caiman, toucan and different monkeys! It was very nice, thank you very much!
Our excellent experience was a result of our guide, Antonio. His experience, knowledge and positive love for Costa Rica was evident in all that he did. Communication, before, during and after our canoe tour was of the highest quality. He went above and beyond as he pre-arranged our parking and boat trips to Tortuguero from Pavona docks, met us as we disembarked at Tortuguera, and introduced us to Natalia who was our contact at Pura Natura where we stayed for our two days. He also pointed out places to eat. He took our abilities and inabilities into full consideration. The tour itself was 2.5 hours of easy paddling, education, information, sights, sounds and explanation of all the birds, reptiles, flowers, trees and insects from Antonio. His upbeat attitude was wonderful, and we could tell he loved his job. If you are in Tortuguero, ask for Antonio, owner of Tortutravel. Oh yes, he also sent us candid photos and a video of our canoe tour.
