A must-see stop in Rome. It's such a beautiful art gallery. I thought it would just be paintings but there's so much sculpture as well. This is a ticket into the gallery at your scheduled time and a link to a limited audio tour app. You arrive, drop your backpack at the coat check which is free. Then they scan your ticket and you step inside and that's all there is to it. The tour app doesn't cover much, I was hoping there would be remarks and info on each piece in the entire gallery but it's more of an overview of the whole gallery. I thought the gallery was magnificent, to be sure. But I'd say definitely go with a tour guide, I passed by so many while I was there and the guides they have are remarkable with the insight they have on the art. Seeing it solo is fine too if you have a mind to explore and soak in the art on your own. But HOWEVER you visit the gallery, you should.

However, the option you selected was our entrance ticket service with audio guide app, rather than one of our private guided tours led by a licensed expert guide. As mentioned in the email we sent the day before your visit, we specifically advised: "As a courtesy from Kai Travel, the audio guide can also be used throughout the city of Rome, not only inside the gallery. For art enthusiasts, an official audio guide is also available at the museum entrance, as our app does not cover every single artwork." For this reason, we are very sorry that this information was overlooked, as we clearly explained that the app provides an overview of the gallery and that visitors seeking more in-depth commentary on every artwork could also choose the museum's official audio guide or a guided tour. My husband and I booked Dennis for three days of private tours in Rome this September. We had the most spectacular experience. A little history about us, 12 years ago we traveled to Italy with our two boys and booked several tours with different tour guides. A wonderful collection of amazing artists. The insightful tour guide highlighted details that would not have been observed otherwise. Definitely an enjoyable experience filled with history and passion that inspires.
I forgot the tour Guide name. He was very knowledgeable and kind. The art work was good but it was too long for same all things, coming from NYC. You need strong legs for this. There is so much things to see in Rome. If I am coming back to Rome, I would not come here again.
What a wonderful museum. Our guide was great - he explained the various works and their significance. So glad we went.
Our first time to Villa Borghese. Although our tour was rather expensive, and a few too many people, our guide was terrific. Passionate about his subject, and brought the history to life. Although the rooms and exhibits were so wonderful it made his job look easy. Our only issue was we included hotel pick-up. On time and really nice car, but driver did not know exactly where to meet our guide! Found him in the end. We had expected that a return trip back to hotel would have been automatically included.

We arranged this tour through our hotel the day before and would never have been able to see the gallery otherwise because of the rebooking requirements. Our guide Alex was fantastic - so knowledgeable and made us understand and appreciate the works of art in a way we would never get on our own. Our group was just our family of four (including two teenagers) and one other person. Alex did a great job of keeping my 13 year old son engaged. My only complaint was we had to go very fast and still didn’t see the whole gallery (but this is due to the time slot limitations of the gallery itself) and didn’t get to see the actual gardens of the gallery. The park the gallery is located in is nice to explore and a break from the normal crazy crowds of Rome. You should know that you can’t take any purses or backpacks in to the gallery and you must check everything in a storage area that is manned behind a counter but is just cubbies and not locked. This was unexpected and felt quite unnerving to leave our stuff, but it all worked out fine.

Galleria Borghese was maybe our favorite stop in Rome and that was in large part due to the wonderful tour provided by Francesca. She provided great insight about the artwork in the museum and Rome's history in general. After the official tour of the museum she continued to walk part of the Villa Borghese with us and made several recommendations for the park and Rome in general. Francesca's tour and hands on approach definitely made a wonderful experience into an unforgettable one.
