The 4 day hampi was well organised & adjusted to our particular needs. The guide, lakshmi, did a great job relating information & adding extra knowledge from her local background. The driver, anthony, met us at the airport & did all driving very well with good humour. Lakshmi has written a book on hampi that assisted in providing extra information that would not be common.
Nice experience with both the driver and the English speaking guides. The organization is very flexible and it was possible to arrange another pickup point (Hubli) and end point (Hampi) and book my stay myself.
5 senses organized a private tour with Thippesh (driver), Rajesh (Hampi guide) and Chandru (Badami/Pattadakal guide). Everything went really well. We had last minute changes to our itinerary - Rajesh was very accommodating with all the changes, super knowledgeable guide too. It felt safe with Thippesh's driving as well - it is not a given in India. All in all I had a wonderful experience. Our trip to Hampi / Badami was a grand success, thanks to the wonderful driver & guides organized by 5 senses!
I am glad you enjoyed Hampi in the company of Rajesh and Thippesh. Thanks for taking the time to review this tour. It was our pleasure hosting you.
Nice tour to Badami Caves and Hampi temples. Knowledgeable guides and a very friendly driver. The road grip from Bengaluru to Badami is about 8 hours by car, it looks long but it is an opportunity to see the mainland and it gives view a better overview of India.
I am glad you enjoyed Badami and Hampi. Thanks for taking the time to review this tour. It was our pleasure hosting you.
Good guides and a driver that got us everywhere in time and safely. Beautiful caves at Badami and many great tempels and views at Hampi.
I am glad you enjoyed Hampi and Badami. Thanks for taking the time to review this tour. It was our pleasure hosting you.
It was a huge fun trip just before our business event in bangaluru. The communication with the travel company went smoothly and everything was clearly communicated. The trip itself was very fascinating if you like ancient temples. The guides are knowledgeable and the driver is always there for you.
I am glad you enjoyed tours to Hampi and BAdami from Bangalore. Thanks for taking the time to review this tour. It was our pleasure hosting you.
Driver Mohan was smartly turned out. Car immaculate everyday. Provided us with water everyday. Smooth driving. Checked we had water before setting off to explore. Introduced us to local tea and coffee at stops Very courteous knowledgeable and informative. Trustworthy, attentive but not intrusive Trip with Rajesh: lovely guide, good English. Gave loads of background information including about the gods and goddesses. Very knowledgeable. Didn’t rush us When guiding checked we had water. Found good toilet stops. Gave information while driving as well as when walking round. Day 3 at Badami: English was ok. Knowledgeable but really just got facts, no background information Hotels Had booked twin rooms but got double ones so had to be moved. Hotel in Badami made a nice change from city hotels. Very pleasant staff.
This visit was part of our third private tour with 5 Senses (first tour, So. India for a month; second No. India for 5.5 weeks; third East and South India, one month). You might have guessed that we are very happy with the company. All three tours were fantastic, this one no exception. For those interested in archeology and history, Hampi and Badami are good stops. They are in rural areas, so the air is cleaner than the big cities. We spent four nights in the area, and got to see everything. One of us even made the 400-step climb, barefoot, to see Lord Hanuman's birthplace. The primary strength of 5 Senses is its people. The owner, Mr. Narayanan, is a great travel planning partner (he’ll work with you to craft exactly the trip you want) and he is super-responsive during trips if any problems arise. I am confident that Narayanan will fix it if it needs fixing—he has helped us several times in that way, and he has done it quickly. The state-based “cultural ambassadors” he has recruited (the guides who accompany you for days, across multiple sites) are excellent and soon become friends. For this month-long tour, I’d particularly like to call out Kannan (Tamil Nadu) and Mohan, and Chandra Shekar (Karnataka). If you are touring other parts of the country, we highly recommend Balwinder (Punjab and Rajasthan) and Vivek and Ram Sewak (Varanasi, Khajuraho and environs). It is basically a fool’s errand to try to price shop local tour operators—there are too many variables, including the type of accommodation, the quality of guides and the quality of transport (both of which can’t be assessed ahead of time). That said, over the course of the three tours, we feel that 5 Senses has been very good value for money. And I can say for certain that you would pay three times as much for the same Smithsonian or Nat Geo or other corporate tour, plus you’d be on a bus with many other folks and stuck with the group schedule. With 5 Senses you’re in your own car deciding where and when you want to go, where you want to eat, and when you want to take it easy. My advice to friends looking for a private tour in India is “don’t bother contacting other companies, just talk to 5 Senses. You won’t regret it.”
Perfect organisation. Great hotels. Mohan our driver/guide was EXCEPTIONAL! This was part of a 10 day trip with Mohan and 5 senses tours All went brilliantly! We would rate them much more than 5 out of 5!
Both guides and driver were great! They all provided interesting information and were happy to answer any questions I had. The sites were interesting and full of history. I would highly recommend this tour if you want to learn more about historical India.
