My son and I had 3 days to explore some sights in Rwanda before travelling onto Uganda. We booked a two day safari with Rwagasabo Safari to Akagera National Park which is in the east of Rwanda on the Tanzanian border. Our guide Vincent collected us on time and proved a great host on our 2 day trip, answering all our questions, we felt in good hands for our first visit in Rwanda. After a briefing in the park office and a short drive we made ourselves comfortable in Akagera Game Lodge, where we stayed for one night. It was the perfect base. The staff were friendly, professional and welcoming, the accommodation was clean, well equipped, delicious food and hotel facilities. The first evening we went on a night safari which was great fun! We saw some sightings but most the following day. Day two started with a boat safari which was led by a very knowledgeable guide who showed us crocodiles of varying ages and sizes, lots of bathing hippopotamus, snake birds (they have very long necks and when they are in the lake you can only their necks which look like a snake). Palm nut vulture, African fish eagle and many other bird species. Vincent and a park ranger Alpha spent the rest of the day driving from the south of the park and out the northern gate. We managed to spot: Genet, water buffalo, topi, water buck, bush buck, impala, giraffe, zebra, warthog, leopard, white tailed mongoose, loads of white rhino, elephants and a big pride of lions. Vulture, snake bird, lots of eagles and a snake!
i spent 2 nights there, one at the muyumbu campsite and the other one at ruzizi tented lodge, i managed to see all the big 5 in 2 days and did the boat ride which was fabulous. But all these would not have happened without my amazing guide called Emmanuel he is comprehensive and professional. I would recommend him to anyone coming to rwanda. He drives and knows all the places, his WhatsApp number is +250785019310.
As a solo female traveler, choosing a reputable tour operator is of utmost importance. Rwagasabo Safaris was an excellent choice. Serge was very welcoming and charismatic and was quick to respond through WhatsApp anytime I had questions leading up to my tour. The accommodations included in the tour were very nice, and as an added surprise - the tour was completely private. We saw many animals, including three of the Big Five, and I felt completely safe and comfortable the entire time. I highly recommend Serge and Rwagasabo Safaris.
After traveling to Kigali for a work conference, my colleague and I decided to book this tour and I’m so glad that we did! It was truly a once in a lifetime experience and you shouldn’t hesitate to book! Our guide, Serge, made all the necessary arrangements from picking us up at our hotel, arranging for our accommodation at the Akagera Lodge, and booking us on an evening drive and morning boat tour with park staff. Our driver, Fabrice, was excellent at navigating all of the roads and trails, and I always felt safe with him behind the wheel despite getting the full “African massage” experience from the bumpy roads! Serge did a great job providing the full itinerary upon pickup and made sure to maximize our two days to see as much as the park as we could! His biology background enabled him to describe interesting facts about each species of animal and it’s clear that he cares about conservation efforts! We were able to see 4 of the big 5 including a baby white rhinoceros who wasn’t more than a few days old! I had 0 expectations about the animals I might see because obviously the guides can’t make guarantees about where the animals will be, but each time we turned a corner a new group of animals were there! It was well-worth the money to have everything arranged and taken care of by Serge and in return I have amazing memories from a once in a lifetime experience!
The highlight of my trip to Rwanda! It was an incredible experience and unquestionably worth the money. Our guides were great guys and very knowledgeable. I saw way more animals than I expected. Definitely something I’ll always remember. Go!

Fantastic tour and well worth the money! The guides are great, and we saw a ton more animals than I expected. I would definitely recommend.
My experiences at Akagera excended my expectations as I saw four of the five Big Fives in addition to other species. Thank for my guide Didier for the experience, as he was able to spot animals even from large distance.
Super guide from Rwagasabo Safaris, saw all big five. Boat Trip certainly worth it. Overnight stay in the park highly recommended.
We spent two great days at the Akagera Wildlife Safari! Serge and his driver picked us up from our hotel in Kigali and drove us safely to Akagera National Park. There, we saw many beautiful animals during a day and night game drive and a morning boat trip on Ihema lake. The programme was great and Serge was really nice. Communication could have been a bit clearer from time to time and we wouldn't have minded a bit more information about the flaura and fauna. All in all a great trip!
