De Tonle Sap is de thuisbasis van het drijvende dorp Kampong Phluk en is een van de beroemdste Siem Reap dagtochten. Deze tour met een kleine groep geeft een intieme kijk op het leven van de lokale bevolking, waar je mogelijkheden krijgt om dorpelingen te ontmoeten en te praten en te leren over het duurzame dorp. Leer hoe het dorp verandert tijdens droge en natte seizoenen, met de lokale bevolking die per boot naar werk en school reist wanneer het waterpeil stijgt.

Bij Kampong Phluk springen we in een boot en verkennen we de prachtige waterwegen en charmante huizen op palen. In het droge seizoen kun je de watermerken op de balken zien die aangeven hoe hoog het water stijgt, en in het natte seizoen zie je de dorpelingen en vissers hun werk doen per boot.
Uitgaan op de Tonle Sap zelf is een diep kalmerende ervaring dankzij het stille water dat de horizon ontmoet zover je kunt zien. We sluiten de dag af met een drankje (en diner, als je dat wilt) in een traditioneel drijvend restaurant om de zon boven het meer te zien ondergaan.

It was a wonderful view of the vast horizon! Thank you for taking care of your booking the night before (6 hours before the tour) as we didn't have time to do so (you may want to contact us as we booked in the middle of the night and may not know). I didn't choose the sunset time slot because I don't have much time to see the sights, but I'd love to see the sunset if I could join again. It's an extra charge, but a mangrove experience on the way? There was also a guide to the event! It was great because they explained things to me along the way and answered my questions in English! I'm happy you've been so kind.

My visit to Kampong Phluk with SRL Travel was truly memorable and exceeded expectations. The tour was well-organized from start to finish, with clear communication and punctual pickup. Traveling in a small group made the experience more personal and allowed us to connect better with the guide and fellow travelers. The stilted village itself was fascinating – a unique and authentic glimpse into local life that you simply don’t get in more tourist-heavy spots. Cruising through the mangroves and seeing the houses rise dramatically above the water was both serene and eye-opening. The guide was knowledgeable and passionate, sharing insights into the community’s culture, history, and daily life. The highlight was, of course, the sunset. Watching the sun dip below the horizon from a quiet spot on the water was breathtaking – the colors reflecting on the river created a picture-perfect ending to the day.
